No one has done more to integrate--completely wipe out the differences between--black and white. Because she decided who she wanted to be, everyone can now be their individual selves instead of a social stereotype. Before she made a difference, everyone was just a representative of a certain type, group or style. She was never "the black girl" type; she was always the one-and-only Diana Ross. That freed everybody to be seen for who they are. It was a big leap to go from being the current best representative of the "sexy blond" (or whatever) to someone who has a name and can play the role she choose. A lot of ladies from her generation made a name for themselves, but none came close to asserting her own identity and saying "baby its me" to the level of Diana Ross. This will be her legacy.
