I don't know why a tow truck needs red and blue lights. If they "respond" to an emergency, sure.... but otherwise it's just confusing. They make dual mode lights now, they can have their "response" mode and amber for when they're towing.

Wow, shitty job hooking up to it by those fleet guys. First time towing a truck? Someone needs to teach them the proper way to do a heavy duty tow. Did they pull the drive shaft?

@@larrybrown7273 LAFD has had their own tow rig in service since 1948. The city has had MACK, KENWORTH, CROWN and now PETERBILT'S. The newest truck is a 2106. Originally LAFD called their units Heavy Utility and now Heavy Rescue. Our trucks are used for rescues and not towing. LA County bought their first truck in 2007. It was a WESTERN STAR. They bought a KENWORTH in 2019. If you get a chance do a Google search.

OH NO -- now Ladder 126 needs a spare for their spare. I have to wonder if the tow truck delivered a rig to swap out the busted one?? I also wonder if Reserve rigs ever get pressed into service as spares in times like this? It can't be good to just let Reserve rigs sit and get rusty -- occasional use is a good idea.

Lafd's Heavy Rescue is more than "tow truck", not a one trick pony as compared to this video. We do not need to wait for a commercial heavy tow to show up. Heavy rescue contains specialty rescue tools to be used in vehicle extrication, structure collapse etc, It has a 50 ton lifting capacity used in separating vehicles from each other, lifting commercial trucks off vehicles allowing firefighter access to patients, lifting vehicles/patients from over the side of the mountains, to name a few uses.

They don't even know how to tow. The safety chains were hooked to the bumper. Even Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn could have figured out how to tow that apparatus and no need to lift it off the ground like that. Just pure ignorance and stupidity so sad for the lack of training training

No I'd you look that's not the bumper. There are 2 steel tow loops there
