Nice VP ute like dash layout, Q how many kms? I got VR 93 Spack V8 auto with VS SS rims with improve brakes n 300hp or 220kw. These utes are awesome cruiser, like going camping n big drives but as you say light in the rear no fun when it rains.

Hello again Mark. You reminded me of our days working at the Holden NSW Zone Office. I recall you drove the Akubra backed VP Ute raced at the Bathurst 12 hour race to a dealer meeting in Sydney. I was green with envy (maybe an exaggeration) you were assigned this task by our boss, Barry Turner. I soon forgot this after being allocated an VP S Pack Ute as a company car. We were lucky enough to enjoy some Aussie car icons back then. Thanks for the video and I enjoy your contributions - it bought back memories of a happy time of my now closed automotive career.

Thanks David. I remember that well and have a photo somewhere of that Akubra ute parked in my parents driveway. I also had a Maloo ute for a company car when we had to take stock back after Autovillage Holden closed. Tony Hamilton received a VN Group A - which he kindly lent me for a weekend away to this farm and Canberra. Happy days indeed and hello to Barry if he sees this.

Hi Costa. That would be a lovely car. I often ordered Genesis Blue for my company cars. Especially VS Statesman models but also Commodores. Yes Gerard was only mildly getting into the loud pedal but you could feel the power.

Nice original Aussie Ute MB and such a desirable drivetrain and options pack. Great to know well maintained Aussie classics like these are still out and about. The homegrown Holden V8 was one of the Australian car industry’s best engines and I was sad to see it eventually replaced by the imported LS engine.

Does anyone know the build numbers of the VG (VN) 5 Litre 5 speed? Considering there was only 5690 in total including V6 and autos I would imagine the 5 litre 5 speed would be one of the rarer Holden combos left.
@markbehr88
Жыл бұрын
I don’t know know numbers but the order rate for manual V8 utes would be very low. If V8s were say 15% ot total build manuals would be 40% or less of that.

@markbehr88

Not sure of the actual production. From my Holden experience I would say less than 20% would be V8 - and the other big factor is the survival rate. Commercial vehicles have a much lower survival rate - so this is a rare survivor.
