Who was squashed like a bug as we we were taught that we were free to grow up to be what ever we wanted to be. To be quite frank though, John Delorean should have known from past experience, late 40's with the Tucker automobile,---that, "You don't have a chance.". (A line from the movie "Tucker") We don't understand this,---but their losses are our losses too.

John signed the glovebox lid of my DeLorean at the convention in Ohio many years ago. It has since severely faded, but you can still just barely make out the huge "J". He used a silver sharpie. I believe it was the one and only DeLorean convention he ever attended.

Speaking as someone from Northern Ireland, Mr Delorean did a lot of good things for my country, he brought hope and jobs to a place when at that time was under great turmoil and political upheaval, but despite this he had a dream that he hoped would last. Despite what he was accused of, I firmly believe he was a good man who wante nothing but the best for his company and just happened to be roped into an unfortunate series of events that led to his demise.
@silverwings11035

I truly agree and as a DeLorean owner myself his dream still lives on and it will always still keep going and he did a lot for that country and he brought a lot of hope and good intentions that unfortunately were short-lived thanks to Margaret Thatcher and all the setup Scandal that he got involved in. It's a shame really because if he was still in business I believe that country would still be in pretty good wealth if he was in business today.

I live in Northern Ireland and remember this whole saga very well.The reason why DMC failed was because JD was suspected of moving money out from the business when things started to go wrong.There was a shipping strike which delayed shipment of product and this increased cashflow problems and the government pulled the pin on the whole thing.Do you really think the British government would have tried to pull this show off the road without extremely good reason when they had already put in £80 million - in today's money you are talking hundreds of millions?Some people will believe anything if it reinforces old prejudices.What a shame for Northern Ireland.

Wow. You live right there and still dont know. Lol. All you idiots make me laugh when you all think you know what went on basing your opinion saying the car was shit because it had a bad engine when if that's the case how come it out sold Porsha and Jaguar in the first year? And I'm sure you probably don't know that he had a twin turbo development going on that would made the car around 300 horsepower and only two cars were built and the VIN numbers were 502 and 530. There's a lot more involved also then you saying it was a crap car with a bad engine so just please shut up.
@captainh3831

The simple, short answer for why DMV failed was the cars weren't selling. There were lots of problems with the first cars coming off the line. Many had to be practically rebuilt at huge costs to remedy the problems. The car was not sufficiently developed to be put into mass production, and the mostly inexperienced workforce was not equipped to deal with the problems on the line.

An interesting man, but here he seems to be trying to rewrite history. He says at one point in the interview that DMC didn't fail but was shut down by the government. He claimed at the time DMC was making over 4,000,000 a month and had 2 years of firm orders on the books. I find that very difficult to believe...it seemed that the company was in trouble almost immediately according to several documentaries and other sources. And it's true it was shut down and put into receivership because he was basically out of money. The cars weren't selling so there was no income to sustain the factory and it's workers.

How wonderful it was to hear the reference to the Tucker: A man and his dream movie as my other hero is George Lucas (Lucasfilm produced Tucker). As regards a movie about Delorean however I would be very critical because, as I'm an amateur screenwriter, I have already been thinking about the many different aspects and events that can be portrayed but unfortunately I'm not in a position to tackle such a huge project. I would however be very concerned about in what light Delorean would be shown.

The guy never quit scamming. If he had been a true Christian, he would have paid back what he owed to the individuals from whom he stole property. Instead of stopping production and fixing problems on his vehicle, he ordered even more defective autos to be produced, in order to go public and cash in. That caused so many problems at the dealerships, they couldn't sell them. They were stacked up. He wasn't a born anything but a serial scammer, going back to college, who never changed. Notice how his benevolent Christian plan just happened to be a secret. How convenient. And notice in the video, he wasn't all that nice looking until plastic surgery, when he told everyone he had been in a car wreck. His saving grace was that he was one of the best car people ever to grace Detroit. I do remember those wonderful vehicles he gave us. But his name should have been Dorian instead of DeLorean, Dorian Gray.

Get married for the right reason. What is that anyway? Like most, (including me until I figured it out to late, too old now), they did not get married for the right reason. We typically don't meet with the minds and love each other for our virtues and values. Many understood that I think before the hippy counter culture of the 60's. Cases in point: Both Robert Kearns, (1970's intermittent windshield wiper.), and John Delorean, (1980's), both had wives who divorced them before the battles were over, (if they ever ended for Delorean). Preston Tucker, (Tucker automobile), went through economic fascist hell also, (late 1940's, so John was not going to make it either, like a precedent), and there was no interest in divorce. She admired and adored him, and he admired and adored her, because they met with the minds, (not indoctrination's, but their own minds).
