Does this make it the largest Level Crossing in the UK? I know large crossings like this are a rarity there, especially when compared to the United States. Excellent Video! :D
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much 😁 In terms of length, it's not the largest. Helpston crossing is the longest UK crossing, followed by Maxey crossing which I've both filmed. This crossing in the video is certainly a contender for the widest crossing in the UK, although it is a split carriageway.

This was the crossing where the police helicopter had to hover in front of a train to stop it from crashing into a stolen Jaguar which had been involved in a car chase and had tried to evade the police by attempting to drive along the track.

At the same time, I can just remember the truncated line where the crossing at Spring Bank Botanic Gardens station was. The line was cut short just before the crossing and I remember seeing stored carriages there, with the ends faces the road. The line has since been cut back further, so you can't see it from the site of the old crossing.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel You've probably located it now but it was nearer the city centre to this location. If you look on Google Maps or similar at this location and then zoom out a little, you can see where a line branched off and went directly North. It was on the Hull - Hornsea line.

2 1/2 minutes in Hull is nothing, generally they put the barriers down and wait for 2 trains, (Cottingham is worse as they are closed whilst the train approaches from Beverley into the station , sits there and then proceeds through the Barriers which have been down ages. I must time it some time.

Well what a fabulous and unique level crossing! It's really massive, and very unique because of the 6 barriers! There is a lot to like about this level crossing - effectively it's two three-barrier level crossings working as one, with the loud alarms! Those people at the end, and the fact that, as you said, one of the halogen bulbs has been taken with the lens broken, leads me to think that where this level crossing is located seems a bit rough round the edges 😶 Fabulous video nonetheless! 👌👌😁
