I want to make one thing clear, back on July 9th Kathy Orta King did a video, I just looked it up on her new hinge + system on June 23 2015 I made this video on a hingeless album I made using a very old design kzitem.info/news/bejne/jo9rzYdni6qJnZw I posted it on youtube. My KZitem board here has become a public display for Kathy Orta to say my book looks like a take from her hinge system 1. I do not appreciate my video being used for Kathy's public comments about my work. You could have sent me a secure private message from my store email If you are watching my tutorial you know that I have an online store. 2. I have not copied any design of Kathy Orta's, I have a tutorial on this as many have tried it out for me and can tell you it is not a hinge system. If there is any questions about it you can see from my June video that I was making this long before she debuted hers. I will now make my new video and have it uploaded to show you how to make this book.

I love your work Tammy. I love Kathy Orta King's work as well... However, as much as I love PP, I can't afford the kits. I appreciate that you have yours on KZitem for free. That's not to say that Kathy doesn't. But the point is, both of you are extremely talented and as a novice I am very appreciative. It's not necessary to argue about hinges or no hinges, you're both excellent at your craft... Craft on beautiful ladies.

Just to clarify for of those of you that think this is copying someone else technique , please watch the whole video and the tutorial, your pages will not fall out and this is nothing like anyone else hinge system. There are no hinges, therefore the name Hingeless!! Also, if you feel the need to dog this on facebook, please give me the courtesy of being able to respond.

Tammy, I am so sorry that you are being accused of wrongdoing. This is beyond words that I'd like to use, but I will refrain from doing so. I am grateful to you for sharing your test videos on how to create your hingeless system when I was on my retreat. My mini album turned out lovely with your assistance. If some people wouldn't be trolling other designers to see what new techniques and methods they are using, there would be no issues. Maybe if they worked on their own projects, they wouldn't be months behind in their own projects promised to their followers.

I have to question the motives of a designer who watches your video and then publicly comments that you have basically stolen from her. I believe it's just to generate interest among people who have not purchased from her to be curious enough to go look at her designs and become potential customers. It's not at all that she thinks you stole anything from her, its just a business tactic. If she truly believed you had infringed on a patent she would have her attorney contact you. Consider the source, Tamra, and keep on doing what you do best!!

Yes! I love this! I really don't see how this binding system has anything to do with the "hidden hinge" type bindings. Why has her ego gotten so huge that it over shadows everyone else's creative abilities. Not everyone needs to steal ideas and label them as their own! I just want to say that I am pretty sure you posted this amazing binding system BEFORE her *top secret* hinge system (which I have seen in magazines from the 90's) made its debut. She was keeping it secret so I wonder how she can explain how you got your hands on something so secret! that aside I am very impressed with this! I will be giving it a try! :)

Very talented! I began learning how to make albums less than 6 months and it's been a blast for me! I hope someday to be able to create something as beautifully put together as yours. So far I have made 14 albums and given all away to family members. With each one I see improvement and my own creativity coming into play. I appreciate you sharing with us very much!

OMG..Kathy Orta King are you serious??!!! Obviously you did NOT view the video completely or you would have clearly seen for yourself that 'your hinge plus' system was NOT used for this album. It is quite obvious Tamra's method she used and several of us have used it in mini albums before. In light of the fact that one of your moderators from your board contacted Tammy before stating how unhappy you all were that she is offering 'FREE TUTORIALS' I have to think again, that is what this is about again. Tammy offers free tutorials quite often and has gained many many followers and customers to her online store.........brilliant and business smart! I can see why Tamra is upset here, as you seem to think that most methods in constructing mini albums are your ideas................ please, take a moment to scan Google and you will find most all of your methods have been in place for many years. I have a book as a matter of fact that has tons of binding/hinge systems with detailed instructions on how to make them. This isn't a 'new book' rather one that was out long before most of us came along including you Kathy. I have spoken to some of the ladies that have tried the hinge plus system, and haven't had very good results, I am thinking perhaps some tweaking may be necessary? Bottom line, I hate to see any kind of intimidation and in my humble opinion think that's exactly what this is. I hope everyone continues to create without fear of being accused of 'stealing' some ones design....and Tammy, I hope you continue to create and post those FREE TUTORIALS as they are so appreciated by so so many folks!!!!!!!!!! You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the US Patent Office web site: Patent Marking and Patent Pending The marking of an article as patented when it is not in fact patented is against the law and subjects the offender to a penalty. Some persons mark articles sold with the terms “Patent Applied For” or “Patent Pending.” These phrases have no legal effect, but only give information that an application for patent has been filed in the USPTO. The protection afforded by a patent does not start until the actual grant of the patent. False use of these phrases or their equivalent is prohibited. Here's the link: www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/doc/general/patpend.htm In other words, the phrase "Patent pending," as a legal term, means... nothing. Hi Tammy, I had just found and subscribed to your channel the other day. So glad that I found you. I had been looking for a larger album to make and then I saw your 10x10 album. Had to say I did the happy dance. Just got the album done and now the pages. I did use the ,50 heavy chipboard and I did double it. Trust me, this album is not going to come apart. Cant wait for this tutorial to come out. Glad you are back! Bobbie

Kathy Orta needs to get over herself. Doesn't she have enough to keep her busy without hijacking this channel? There's room for everybody in this craft. Creative ideas are not limited to the mind of one person, even though one ego seems to think otherwise. I've watched Tammy's video all the way through and the technique she's using is "hingeless". But even if it wasn't, for crying out loud, I learned hinges 12 years ago in a scrapbook class I took. All of a sudden it's now "copyrighted"? Get a life.

Love the hingeless idea but the center part is a little bowed. I think and extra shoreline in your magnetic flap might help there. And you can make the space between pages larger to make room for embellishments. Nice job!

OMG To me anything that is posted on KZitem is free. Yes I realize ppl put their crafts up to sell and make money but I did watch the video of PP new hinge and NO I wasn't impressed with it and no I won't use it. It is so sad that some have to have everything belong to them. If you don't want it copied don't post it. Look at Stampin Up & CTMH they put out thousand of stuff. They aren't screaming it belongs to them only. There are so many crafters that enjoy putting their stuff out there. Most admired crafter in my book is Anne of Paper Creations and Tim Holtz and they aren't screaming that it all belongs to them. Off my soap box. I do enjoy the crafters that like to share and there are many who have taught me different & easier ways. Thank you all freebie crafters.

This makes me extremely sad! And I think it shows what a petty person Kathy really is. One of the best things about paper crafters is their overwhelming response to lift each other up, encourage, and share ideas so that they can be improved upon changed tweaked and turned into something amazing. The idea that Kathy Orta feels like because she posted a video of how she fold some paper gives her exclusive rights to it is so far from what crafting is about. If every crafter went by this none of us would ever be able to craft again. I’ve come up with lots of really cool techniques that I haven’t seen somewhere else or that were an improvement on something I had previously seen. Oh sure it’s her legal right to get a patent and charge scrapbooking stores A ridiculous amount of money just so they can teach the technique to other people but come on give me a break. Do you know what I do when I figure out a new technique? I share it with my crafting girls, I post on Facebook pages that I belong to, and have even shown it to scrapbook store owners and you know why? No, not so I can charge everybody who decides to use my idea but so that my idea can get changed, tweaked, and improved upon. I can’t wait to see what people do with new technique ideas. Having said all of this I will now step down off my soapbox and say Tammy you are an amazing contribution to the crafting world and please do not be intimidated by this ridiculous creature who does not understand anything about crafters at heart!!
