I'm a little late on the comment train, but a few years ago I had the pleasure of kayaking in a river teeming with wild alligators in Florida. Had a four footer swim underneath my boat and had another larger female who wasn't too thrilled when I spotted one of her babies basking in a tree. It was an experience I'll never forget.

Most dangerous situation? That would have to be when an enormous angry dog came charging out of nowhere when I was riding my horse. There was a fence between us, but my horse just totally freaked out and tried to bolt. I didn't let her, so she started rearing and trying to get me off. Eventually she reared a little too high and tipped backwards, with me still on her. There was another fence behind us, which she fell on and slipped over. I had jumped off of her right when I felt her going over. She landed next to me, only about 8 inches away. I tell you, that was a close call. Could have been really bad if she had fallen on top of me. I admit, though, that incident was probably my fault for not handling her better when she started to rear. Both me and my horse were totally fine, and I got back on afterwords. Still riding that mare to this day. :)

Very awesome! I definitely want to travel to Australia at some point. I'm amazed how docile the wild snakes you found were. On the dangerous situation question, I live in southern California near the wetlands and on many occasions have caught rattlers for fun just to release them away from where we jump our bikes. It's much more dangerous than it seems, but I personally would never recommend ANYONE to try to catch a rattle snake. On a positive note that is what got me into keeping reptiles. Love the show as always! Keep up the passion!

Some of my mates and myself got stranded in the mountains of Canmore, Alberta after a night of drinking and terrible decision making. Keeping in mind, we left to go hiking through the mountains when it was already almost dark, and not a single ONE of us thought to bring a flashlight (I blame 11 percent axehead beer). We get into the mountains and are blasting music on a ghettoblaster while being drunken hiking maniacs when we realize that it's too dark to find our way out and it's actually way colder than we thought it was going to be. So we spent an hour gathering wood to make a fire, and got a decent one blazing to camp up for the night and wait for sunrise to make our way home. Unfortunately the campfire also illuminated some visitors that we had to our little campsite. Seems about 3 full grown cougars were circling us about 40 - 50 feet out. Long story short, we blasted black metal at them with our ghetto blasters, and my dog (which thank christ I had brought with me) barked enough to scare the away, but only after an hour of them cautiously stalking us. This was easily the most scared I had ever been in my life, and I honestly haven't drank since then. Booze and wildlife DO NOT MIX.

The most dangerous situation animal wise I've had was in FL 43 yrs ago I lived in an area of really no development. 54 homes in many many miles. Arson S would set fires and when residents would leave their homes the arsonist would rob you. Afterwards one could go thru woods easily as all the low bush would be gone. One day I was out hunting around for armadillo they don't see well so it's pretty easy to sneak up. I found one grabbed it by the tail right by a hole with long claws it dug in ground down the hole was pulling as hard as I could, it slipped out of my grasp I put my whole arm down the hole while flat on ground grabbed a tail and pulled out a HUGE diamond back it was not even out of the hole it curved around and met me face to face while I had tail rest of it could not be seen it was so big. I let go of the tail and didn't move it finally turned back down the hole.

My scariest adventure was a time after we had mass rain fall. I decided I was going to take on the river I grew up canoeing in by myself. Now if you know anything about rivers after it rains you'll know it was higher and faster than usual. About 20 minutes down river I hit a rapid area, my canoe rolled, submerged and I was sent down river without my life jacket, I almost drowned. Let me know if you would like me to send the whole story to the snakebytes facebook page! It's pretty exciting, the challenges of recovering and making it back up stream.

Scariest moment of my life: I went kayaking in Mobile Bay with my girlfriend (both 17 at the time) and a tropical storm came in and flipped us both, losing one kayak and both of our paddles. We couldn't get back in them so we held onto the capsized kayak without life jackets (I know..) for 9 hours in the channel. We had man-of-war jellyfish stinging us all night. We were rescued by the marine police and went to the hospital for dehydration and hypothermia.
