Mmmmm it's too many years since I last had this delicious and indulgent dessert. I have never seen rasmalai available in British Indian Restaurants either. It's a pity cos I have a feeling that they would be immensely popular! Great video with clear and concise instructions.

I am salivating here with your Rasmalai . What I do also is instead of going through the long procedure with the milk , I normally use cottage cheese and I rinse it out very good and I make the Rasmalai out of that , and it comes out excellent to . And I use condensed milk as the sweetener and . On this auspicious festival of lights, May the glow of joy, prosperity and happiness and peace and health and wealth illuminate you life and and your home and your family . From my heart to your and your family Happy Diwali. Thank you as usual for an excellent recipe and instructions . You are the best !!!!! Words cannot express how much respect I have for you due to your authenticity and also making me always miss home and shed happy tears . I am proud of you , you made me like as I told you before be proud again to be a Trinidadian and I thank you for that . I wish for you in the lifetime all the happiness and success , and also I am looking forward to see you shine one day on food network !!!! :}:} have a good week ahead of you and thank you as usual you are the best !!!!!!!!!!

Very interesting. A great job R. This is a typical East Indian dessert(by literal sense- This sweet is from Bengal which is in the east of India). Even though quite popular in South we hardly make it. However since I have a liking for homemade sweets I tried it and came out quite good. Some tips, if you add the lemon juice or vinegar at the time when the milk starts boiling, you get a better yield of cheese and separation of cheese and whey water is also complete. I could see your whey water still has a lot of cheese which can be separated. Then if you use lemon or vinegar it is better to give a wash before you make balls or sometimes the creamy base in which the cheese balls are soaked can curdle. Just few tips. I happy that you had a fabulous dewali.

Love this! Made this a couple times myself and it's such an easy recipe but it does take long. I usually rinse the curds after wards because sometimes that lemony flavour stays back. Did you know that if you made those same curds, and kept it in the cloth after squeezing out the water and you kept something like a heavy pot on top of it for about an hour, you have your own, homemade block of paneer! Happy Divali Btw! Over at the Trini- Indian Kitchen, we aren't celebrating this year but I still have some recipes I'd like to share

Yes Navin, this is how I learned to make paneer too.

Yup. Much better than store bought paneer in terms of texture and taste. Although it's not common for us to eat paneer

Nice, I usually rinse it with cold water when making paneer, and I put the grinding stone (sil) on top of it which really firms it up and squeezes out the extra liquid. I rarely make paneer anymore because it's so easily accessible where I live. Happy Divali to you, and your family! Although you are not celebrating, you can still indulge in the food and sweets ☺

yeah I've made Paneer like 2 times ever. We don't usually cook with it a lot. I of course make fresh Paneer for things like Paynoose and Paneer Barfi (Sondesh in Bengali). Thanks for the wishes, we'll be cooking for sure!

Thanks for making this. I sometimes go to an indian buffet restaurant here in Philly. After i eat all their goat and tandor roti, i then attack de rasmali. To an average trini back home in Trinidad, rasmali does not look as appetizing but when you taste it, it taste like rich ice cream. This is why dem indians from india dont like me in dey buffet because i eating goat and drinkin rasmali for all dem years i din geh it back home.

This is the same way I make my Rasmalais. Sometimes I cheat the recipe and use ricotta cheese. I bake it in a water bath for one hour and it comes out the same as if you were going to separate the curds from the whey. It holds the shape and absorbs the sauce really well.

Reanna Mohammed Hi, thanks for sharing. I have tried it before but it takes the same time. Once you add enough of the curdling agent (vinegar or lemon juice), you don't need the sugar.
