That's an extremely well made and well thought out video, Mr. Wenner. Thank you. I have this morning re-discovered this little machine after hearing about it years ago and then forgetting all about it. This video is slighly dated as the Pi 4 is now available, but that takes nothing away from the quality of this one. It's a model of how to make a clear, level-appropriate, engaging video and incidentally how to re-kindle an interest in all things technical in a bloke who's nearly 50 and who is not tech' savvy. With the Corona virus (or rather the school closure policy) preventing me from meeting this year's crop of new students, I am trying to learn how to make videos for my English (as a second language) students to watch at home. If I can learn to make them (using PowerPoint 2016) and they turn out to be half as good as English videos as this is as an intrductory video, I will be a happy man and they will be better off for it. Thank you again. I am going to see what else your channel has to offer on this and other stuff. Liked/Subscribed.

Richard, thank you for this very well made intro, you have me as your latest subscriber. I am definitely a "newbie" to the Pi family, and have just received a Pi 4 kit in the mail this week. I have been watching several channels on KZitem to find as much "getting started" information as I can. The kit has an SD card pre-loaded with NOOBS, power supply, a case with a cooling fan, two HDMI cables and heat sinks. I have asked a question of a couple of others, but have not received a response, and was hoping you might know the answer to my Pi question. One Pi user has a video describing how the Pi 4 is a great addition to his iPad Pro. He runs the Pi from his iPad through the new USB-C connector (as the iPad Pro uses the USB-C instead of the lightning connector). However, I have the iPad 7th generation that uses the lightning connector, and the question I have been asking is, can I run my Pi 4 from my iPad if I use a lightning-to-USB-C cable? There is also a lightning-to-USB-C adaptor, but I thought the actual cable would be a better connection. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated, and I'm looking forward to watching some of your other videos that I saw while browsing your channel. Thanks again! Marc

@@raymondbailey2142 Ah right. One task that may need another machine for is when you need to make a SD Card (if you don't already have a card with an operating system on it). If you do then you can just work on the Pi as a complete 'stand alone' machine. From your question I suggest that you run the Pi from a GUI - a 'windows like interface' - it is a solid easy interface. As you progress you can get your hands dirty using the black text console. Either way very best luck with your hacking :)

Does the memory card containing the OS,have to be removed after shutting down,or can it be left inserted?

I always leave mine in...whether it's on/or, off. ;-) (That is, unless I wish to run a different OS/in which case I simply swap cards.)

Great video!!! So informative!!! This was so helpful for a dummy when it comes to computer things!!! Can you do a video about how to add retro games to the Pi only using an ipad??? I don't have a pic or a laptop, my only computer is the Pi with noobs OS!!! The grandkids would like to play old arcade games my son's used to play as well as those old consoles!!! Please and thank you!!!

Thank you for your comments. There are far better folk than I to do retro gaming. Do have a look at raspberrypi.org or some of the sites that specialise on this very topic. Good luck.
