Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, one of India’s largest conglomerates, passed away at the age of 86. Just on Monday, the veteran industrialist had addressed rumours about his health in a social media post, clarifying that he was simply undergoing routine medical checkups due to his advanced age. In a late-night statement on Wednesday, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran confirmed Mr. Tata’s passing, paying tribute to his exceptional dedication to excellence, integrity, and innovation.
“With deep sorrow, we say goodbye to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, an extraordinary leader whose invaluable contributions have not only shaped the Tata Group but also left a lasting impact on our nation,” Mr. Chandrasekaran remarked.
Just two days prior, on Monday, Ratan Tata had taken to social media to address and dismiss rumours about his health. In his message, he thanked his followers, saying, "Thank you for your concern." He went on to clarify, “I’m aware of the rumours circulating about my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I’m currently undergoing routine medical check-ups due to my age and associated conditions, but I’m in good spirits.”
In his final social media post, the 86-year-old urged the public and media to avoid spreading misinformation about his health.
