Great info. I rarely see you adding lubricants in your videos. This answers those questions.

Sockets i clean and then i apply Balistol Universial. For sockets i use rarely i mix in a little Vaseline with the balistol for coating.

Very good info here! I use Super Lube lubricants, especially the silicone grease in the tubs. Also the heavier silicone oil in bottles, use a lot. Great because I think they are all made in MA or CT.

This should generate lots of disagreement. Super lube makes that grease in a grade 1, but it’s hard to find, and usually comes in a $50 quantity in my experience. It’s light enough to use in high tooth count ratchets IMHO. I do wonder what it will be like in 40 years. Great content and happy you are broadening out. Going to give the 50-50 a try. I live near the ocean and have rust trouble.

Glad to see you using WD-40 as a cleaner and not a lubricant. Too many people think it’s a good lubricant.

You should try super lube NLGI-00. It is noticeably lighter than the one you use. It will work perfectly with high-count tooth ratchets.

Try some of the new bicycle chain lubricants, they are very light and viscous, you wont need to take ratchets apart. Grease isnt good as dirt sticks and it moves, its not like a bearing when it gets warm the grease is able to move around.

I wanna try the WD40 Specialist “Dry Lube”
@jcoul1sc
Жыл бұрын
@snapringchronicles3020 used it on my craftsman tool chest and filing cabinets. Works great as easy to apply in a spray, but you end up wasting loads. Think I bought the ptfe dry lube Muc off chain lube is great for tools but not the best lube. See zero friction cycling for chain lube ratings for what u can get hold of. Muc off is not good for lubrication in their tests

Snap-on recommends and use Super Lube on their fine tooth ratchets, so do i. I used before to put Permatex Engine Asembley Lube in, but like with oils it gets to thin and comes out.

Surprised about the assembly lube. Never used it but heard it’s pretty stable. There are so many opinions when it come to ratchet lubricants. The video is just my 2cents on the matter.

I buy WD-40 at Home Depot or Lowes in a gallon container for around $30. Way cheaper in that quantity. I transfer to spray to spray bottles or other container to use.
