Refresco wasn't bad, just heavy. Being a cheesehead, I too love Wisconsin. Cat can't be dumb, he's the star of the show.

You hear there is not enough truck drivers. Then the percentage of drivers over 50 is way higher than they have younger.

Last I heard two years ago, the average age of a trucker was 55. This job has sacrifices and the industry hasn't figured out how to lure in young people and keep them.

I had 2 loads back to back shift on me last week. One of them had to get restacked and delivered the next day. Thankfully Sara and my dispatcher Alex were a huge help on that.

Who was the shipper? I generally avoid many issues because I've done reefer long enough to learn who or what is the the problem in the first place. Lol

That fuel mileage is directly related to that 2.64 gear ratio. Keep those RPM's low... sipping fuel. Many years ago, Volvo came out with an "XE" package; that may have been introduced in about 2012 or 2013 (from memory). Those trucks were equipped with 2.64 gear ratios and the D13 engines; they were designed to spin the RPM's at 1,100 at 65 mph. The trucks were manufactured for the Plains states as those specs would not be good trucks to run in the mountains. I have run them in the mountains but it is not something that could be described as "enjoyable" to run... not enough power and geared too high. For the truck that you have now, 425 HP helps too. That is not actually enough power for an actual over-the-road long-haul truck but if you can tolerate it, you will realize better fuel mileage than a higher HP engine. Again, sipping fuel is the secret to fuel mileage... low RPM's and sipping fuel.

I think this truck forgot how to act while it sat. I'm not sure how long it sat, but my mpg has steadily rose up over the last couple of months into a more normal range. At 65 mph, I sit around 1150 rpm. At 68(where I generally cruise at now), it's 1200. 73 is around 1250. 75 is 1300. I'll probably give the truck 455 hp and let it be. This truck will also be needing an over head here shortly and I'll probably start next year off doing that and replacing the cups and orings. Though, I might do that in Q4. This truck is what i need it to be. Reliable with minor issues and getting decent mpg. I expect to be dumping a decent chunk of cash next year though.

Not a trucker but in driving cross country recently, I have noticed a huge uptick in Indian truck drivers... Thought that was interesting. Am I delusional or are there actually an absolute shit ton of Indian truckers?

They’ve been a big part of the industry for quite a few years now. Russians are also big out here too. The demographics and where you are driving plays a big part too.

The business is littered with inexperienced idiots... loaded with them. Foreigners are a big problem in the trucking business; they do quite well, however, at getting into wrecks, killing innocent people, and giving insurance companies reasons to raise insurance rates!
