The complete EMI recordings of the Heidsieck published by ERATO is an event (cutt.ly/zz3siDS). There is a funny anecdote that Eric told me about a concert. He had to play "Gaspard de la nuit" in the Théâtre de la ville de Blois (France). On the train, he was very anxious, especially because of the third movement, the "Scarbo" which is extremely technically difficult. He was praying that the theater would be burned. His surprise was incredible, when, getting off the train, some panicked people rushed to meet him to warn him that the theater had caught fire and that the concert was cancelled. Eric, completely stunned, regained his courage and proposed to play at a private home that had a piano. The concert was finally given in front of a small committee of about ten people and the interpretation was a memorable success. Indeed, the Scarbo (28:23) played by Eric is exceptional in its tension, virtuosity and commitment. Concerning Ma mère l'Oye, the high part of the piano, played by Tania is a miracle of delicacy, poetry and expression.
Nice listening :)
