This is a wonderfully diverse collection of tunes that Ravi has assembled. He's cultivated his own voice not only as a perfomer but as well a composer as evidenced by three tunes in the set. The next time that I get up to New York, I'll make it a point to check him out.

I never knew there was a Ravi Coltrane! Fine show! its great he's keeping his dad's legacy alive. He would've been very proud! it's cool too how he looks just like his pops. :)

An amazing concert, I was there when this was recorded, and I was, almost literally, blown away. Perhaps my favorite was a very original and extremely energetic version of Charlie Parker's "Segment", where Ravi Coltrane plays the tiny sopranino saxophone and the other band members also do some great solos. I hope one of the live concerts of his new quartet will soon be on CD. (I have no idea why this video has only 237 views so far).

Great that you were there, but if you we almost literally blown away, was it the force of the air from Ravi's horn that almost blew you up the stairs and out onto the street, or the percussive power of the drums that almost blew you up? Just kidding, but "literally" has a meaning.

The comments range from so boring to awesome , so there are mixed opinions . Personally I think Ravi is a great young player with his own style not trying to imitate his famous father and I foresee many years of great music from him to come .

I was there one of the nights that week. You can't see him well in this clip but Jonathan Blake is a sight to behold. Incredible player but I don't how he does it. He sits the farthest up I have ever seen, and he is…very overweight….and I don't see how he does it.

yes this is a common oversite on KZitem postings generally. just because we recognize them, not everyone has had the opportunity to listen. how can a person look up more music, make purchases and so on. should be a youtube requirement.

An honest comment. R Coltrane has never really arrived as an important voice. There is a lot of flailing around in his music. A sense of not going anywhere. His band with Luis Perdomo, EJ Strickland and Drew Gress did develop some good group interplay which i think is quite original.
