+aby mondesir If you want to fuck up your spine in the long run, then keep doing it. Pressing super heavy weight means nothing if you cannot maintain safety. Proper form does not only help activating the muscle you work out. I think the true purpose of proper form is to help you avoid most possible injuries. So stop giving stupid lessons. I know well that it's similar to decline bp. I even know why most of us can do heavier weight in decline bp compared to normal bp: first, the range of motion is much shorter, second, there's no lower sticky point, and third, it involves the most muscle fibers in the pecs. In conclusion, THE FIRST GIRL WAS CHEATING!!!

That's the foundation of the bench press exercise. Stringer bench press, stronger back. evidently, the bench press, done correctly is more of a triceps and back exercise than chest. Although chest is somewhat involved. The lifter arches their mid back and drives their lats into the bench creating a stable and strong foundation to lift heavier weight,

*correction* the bench press is not a back "excercise" like other excercises for the back, however the back as I keep saying provides the basis of support and stability to be able to lift the heavy weight. Basically the back works in the bench press like your core would work in excercise like the barbell row or possibly the deadlift,

He's on the first raw bench compilation. watch?v=7PuRHNpxUfU I used his 302.5 bench because it is done under powerlifting standards--his 305 was done without a pause in a competition without standard powerlifting judging. I think his 302.5 is more impressive, but both are amazing benches. He is one of the best out there.

@jordantheman4653

+shane mark Your grammar is pretty fucked but what I think you're saying is that because of the arch of their backs, it shouldn't count. There are regulations, its not a giant shit show of made up rules. You have to have your butt on the bench but other than that, you can arch your hack as much as you want even if that means your chest is sticking up so high that you only have to move the bar 1 foot. The reason the rules allow for this is that its very difficult to set one standard as the way one can bench press in competition and even more difficult to ensure that standard is adhered to. An example is from squats. The rule for depth is that you have to have the top of your knees below the top of your legs at the crease in the hip joint. This is the easiest standard for depth. Think about how difficult it would be to say 'the angle between whatever and whatever must be 20 degrees blah blah blah' or whatever. How the fuck would somebody go about measuring that? You can't say "wait a minute, hold it at depth while I take out my protractor". The same idea goes for bench press. There's an easy standard established already, anything more complex would simply not be feasible as something to accurately and reliably measure.

With all respect to Spoto and other big lifters. But I feel like their chest is so big that it limits the range of motion. Like the last lift, his elbows didn't even go 90 degrees because his chest was in the way. My chest is a lot smaller, but if I would hover the bar about where his chest would be and then go up, it wouldn't count as a real rep.

So by lifting big weights they get big chests, allowing even bigger lifts. I fail to see what you're complaining about. I mean, that's a catch 22 if I ever heard one. That's as absurd as saying it's not fair that pro tennis players can play for hours while average guys get winded after about 30-45 minutes of hard play. Extreme conditioning is part of tennis; building a large body is part of powerlifting. Should they use cambered bars to make you feel better about yourself?
