Do Sebadoh III next please! And Sebadoh vs Helmet (or the smash your head on the punk rock comp album). Thanks, love these multipart discussions about the older works, with Adelle's response.

These episodes about Bakesale have been so interesting lately. You need to do more like this, and go down the rabbit hole of Seb (and Seb related) albums. III, Bubble, Smash Yr Head, and Freedman especially. You two are finding your groove.

Loving the podcast and the Bakesale episodes in particular. I was living in Los Angeles when the record came out and listened to it endlessly. Like, every day on the way to and from work. Could not get enough of it. Enjoyed some Sebadoh live shows at The Roxy during this period as well. Anyway, Bakesale means an awful lot to me and it brings me joy to listen to you both talk about it. Thank you Lou and Adelle!

It took me a little while to get "Dramamine," but it is great. One of the better Sebadoh songs. I think it might move up her list over time.

Bakesale was my peak time seeing the band, several times at First Avenue in Minneapolis during that period. First touring period after I'd discovered the prior CDs through a friend and former bandmate, and within a year or so of discovering III, which was a huge album in my life. I loved the "America's Greatest Hits" t-shirt that was sold during that tour, wish I'd stocked up. :) I would have loved to hear about the actual CD itself, the CD has a great drawing image of a jet-set style couple on it, always been one of the more distinctive CDs in my collection. I also loved the cardboard design of the album, Lou. I just pulled out my old original copy, somewhat scratched due to use over the decades. Great show!

Mystery Man is one of my favorite Seb tunes, and I've been a fan since the first record. Was the version that was on that 12", I can't recall the name, that had Naima on it....was that the same version on Bakesale??

yea the 4-track version was on the ‘4-song CD’ which was named that to side step restrictions on how many songs could be on a cd single in the UK..

Bakesale is Sebadoh's best and most cohesive album, and all the songs are good, but I'm surprised at both of their assessment of Magnet's Coil. It's good, but just doesn't have the depth of the top songs. Jason really brought it on this album. Might be the only album in which his songs matched or surpassed Lou's.

like I say in the ep. Jason’s songs are the easily the best

@@loobiecore17 I wouldn't say that. I just think that this was Jason at his peak, which gave the balance. Your stuff was in top form, but you had been in previous albums. Gaffney's departure had a lot to do with that shift towards balance too
