Not sure if anyone has looked into the "11th of July" teasers, but in the 1999 RTW timeline, July 11th is the date of Bash At The Beach 1999 (of CageMatch low score infamy and the source of the Junkyard Invitational). On the WWF side, this was the Sunday Night Heat where The Rock cut THAT promo on Billy Gunn

In the event the "11th of July" teasers reflect 2024 and not 1999, the episode of Reliving The War that day (barring another break) would be the October 25th, 1999 episode, the night after Halloween Havoc. Not Vince Russo's first Nitro as booker, but the start of him implementing his own new booking plans after a PPV build that he didn't initiate (for one, the interference-laden 32 person WCW title tournament begins on that Nitro)

I think the Steiner/Goldberg match in this episode shows the real failure of the Finger Poke of Doom and the stories that followed. Nash and others have said that the plan was to have Goldberg run through the NWO to get the belt back but he spent weeks still feuding with Bam Bam and when he finally gets his hands on an NWO member it's Steiner who already has two actual stories of his own with his brother and DDP and he doesn't get to finish the match himself. They took their biggest star she made him feel like just another guy.

@@michaelsinger4638God, it’s at least October before he finally gets anything resembling direction, and it starts as a go-nowhere US title mess with Bret, Sid, and the Outsiders. The state of both franchises can partly defined by how their nepotism pushes were made. Shane Mac was always made an annoying joke accessory to the main action. The spots were always about how much of a weasel he was and how much he didn’t belong there. I think David Flair was introduced January 4th and he’s already the centerpiece of all ongoing storylines, even though this would never be happening aside from his last name.

This is where things get interesting for me... back at this point in it's history, I had all but completely stopped tuning in to WCW programming. I would only occasionally tune in to try and keep up with what Bret Hart was doing... But when I did, I almost always left disappointed. Though I do regret missing out on his matches with Booker T... which brings me to my next point. This is the first time I've seen probably 95% of this era of WCW... I had nearly ZERO interest in what they were doing at that point... and I honestly doubt I would be interested in seeing any of it even NOW without Ryan's insight, commentary, comedic timing, and nearly encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling lore and history being included. Fuckin' nailed it as usual, Mr.Bios!
