Not only did these four sing together here, but Andy featured Ray and Cass separately on his show several times. See their duets and production numbers elsewhere on KZitem. Andy embraced the pop music revolution of the '60s and '70s. He loved working with Ray, Cass, and such other contemporary guests as Simon & Garfunkel, The Temptations, Ike & Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and The Temptations.

In Mr. Williams memoir he explained that he put Elton John on his show as a favor to a friend who thought Elton John was going to be a very big star. This was Elton John's first appearance on American television according to the memoir. The show was pre-recorded and happened to air while Your Song was doing very well on the music charts. The Andy Williams Show was extremely popular here, in the UK and all over the world. Mr. Williams liked to feature young recording artists of the day and many got their start on his show. Plus, he was terrific sharing the stage with his guests!

I know the clearances might be a nightmare, but there are so many wonderful live Cass Elliot appearances (like this one) that should be released on Cd. Her "Coming to the Best Part of My Life" from the Johnny Carson Show, the duets w/ Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Julie Andrews, John Denver, etc. I can't believe this wouldn't sell in today's market which favors duet albums.

What a piece of Gold... Four artist that were great legends in their own rights... The only one that remains with us today is Elton John... As I reflect back we lost Mama Cass first, followed by Andy Williams and not to many years ago we lost Ray Charles. Oh precious Lord our loss has been heavens gain with these magnificent voices. This song is now over 40 years old but it has stood the test of time with a plea that our world is in such a term-all with constant conflict and confusion that only our creator can turn this around now. Thanks for such a beautiful share & God Bless Always

You said it best, my new friend.....this is GOLD....never knew they all performed together. Elton John looks so young. Your Madeleine Albright recently said it best "the world is a mess right now". I was discussing the conflict areas with a friend yesterday; what else can we do except pray that those government leaders who have their heads screwed on straight and with compassion in their hearts....do the right thing?
@GailHitt

Kathryn McMahon Thank you for such kind words about this beautiful song. Yes Elton John did look like a young boy to me plus he had hair then. Prayer is the only thing that is going to turn this world around. If our people doesn't stop this insanity and put God back in this picture I am afraid that we will continue to self destruct at a rapid pace. I have always enjoyed keeping up with the news from around the world but I have noticed that it is full of one tragic event after another with no relief. Starting with our government leaders on down and I have never seen so much finger pointing in my life. There is absolutely "No" unity among our leaders anymore. This division is going to be our own demise by not going to our knees and returning to the cross... I hope all is well with you and please let me know how your doctor visit goes. I have you in my daily prayers & God Bless Always

Your comment truly surprised me. I often wonder, when I listen to Mr. Williams, how one man can convey such intense feelings within three minutes...and sometimes within the first few seconds of a song! Isn't that what soul is all about? Mr. Williams is a master of emotional phrasing, tone and just plain old romance. Listen to songs from his Cadence, holiday and faith collections. Beautiful music and you may even have a change of heart.

Since I am not a man of faith, I will avoid listening to those recordings. Music is very subjective. Obviously, Mr. Williams touches you but he does absolutely nothing for me. I can respect his talent, his hard work and dedication, but he simply isn't my style. But I'm happy that he uplifts you. Music is humanity's most precious gift.
