plus Gene Harris, Ray Brown and Superband too!))) Music, style, charisma, FUN - like Rat Pack with Count Basie Orchestra, Quincy Jones arrangements)) I got to see Ray Charles in concert with the folks when I was 13 in 1978 with the Rayettes. We need a Mt Rushmore for all of them))

I saw this in Melbourne Australia: Gene Harris, Ray Brown, Harry Edison, Like Faddis, Kenny Burrell, BB King, Ray was breathtaking and a full orchestra - and I had front row seats.

Thank you for your comment. I was at this concert hall. I was moved. They will continue to perform in the sky.
One thing I'll always admire about Bb is his ability to play so well with other musicians. It's like he's got this whole other level of groove and he brings every last person he's preformed with up to this level because well let's face it... Bb King is in fact the King.
@hcmisa

This is so true. I also noticed evertime bb works with other musician, what he plays fits perfectly with the song. One great example is the song covered by BB with Ray Charles, "sinner's prayer"

I think this is October 1990. I worked at the old Asahi Evening News, an English-language newspaper in Tokyo. Toward the end of the day one day a Japanese co-worker asked if I wanted a PRESS PASS to the BB King/Ray Charles concert. What a deal, total access! But suddenly I remembered: My girlfriend was already on the train from Osaka and expected me to meet her at the station. This was before cell phones so I couldn't reach her on the train. Couldn't very well leave her waiting at the station. So I missed it. 😫😫 Thanks for posting, so I can see what I missed 30 years later!

Thank you for your comment. At that time I was working for a sports newspaper. I could see the concert with the press pass. Later, there was a broadcast on TV and I recorded it. All the songs that were broadcast will be uploaded to KZitem in the future. Thank you.

HUGE. (And this word is so inadequate, I'm embarrassed to use it, but I have none better.) Brother Ray and the King of the Blues had careers of almost identical lengths, starting at almost the same time, and taking very different tracks, but look at how they ended up in the same, celebrated place. EPOCHAL. (Nope, still not enough.) I am so glad that the great soul-jazz pianist, Gene Harris, is leading this amazing band, and getting total props for doing so, and, I implore you: Read the credits, see the names of the musicians, and if there are any you don't recognize, please Google them, so you can marvel that they got all of these giants on the same stage at the same time. (I mean, Kenny Burrell on guitar? "Sweets" Edison on trumpet? PLEASE.) APOCALYPTIC. (Maybe...)

Mr. B.B. King had to drop out of school in the 7th grade to pick cotton in Mississippi. He had to educate himself. He would learn shot sentences in French. Spanish, Italian, etc. A lot of this are in a museum in Mississippi.
