I was at a restaurant with my G,Fs mates, about 12 of us and a story was being told how 1 of the lads out in Camden had been mugged he laughed as he retold how his best friend since childhood was being kicked to the floor as he ran away. I asked if he didn't like him and he replied that they were BFFs and the group except me and my girl, laughed. We exchanged glances, made our excuses and left. Pretty sure Ray would have left as well. He was proud about abandoning his friend. WTF😮

This was such a great series. Absolutely gutted to find out that there wasn't going to be anymore. I think they made the right decision not to drag it on like the walking dead and finish it in a place that left you satisfied but also wanting more because it was cool. They can't have loads more of him just doing the same stuff. Well written, and he was the perfect main character.

The villain aka the director does a terrific job of being an entitled a-hole. And Ray as the oustider has the worst of both worlds. He doesn't fit in with snobby privileged well to do people and he doesn't fit in with the rude no integrity portion of the lower class either. So basically he's f-d. But.. he does harm some people who probably dont deserve it along the way so there is that too. But great show. Scott Ryan Legend in my book.

That is a recurring theme throughout this show. Who does more real damage in society, the openly violent people like Ray, who we all see and think of as criminals (even if they do have a code like Ray), or the seemingly civilized ones who we think of as wealthy and successful, but who use their power and wealth more subtly to instill fear and abuse and intimidate those less powerful?

The show was so real that’s what made it good. In this case, he knew he had already lost his girlfriend. And most shows it would’ve shown them reconciling, which generally wouldn’t happen in real life. I also like the scenes where he meets her in the future and she’s pregnant. He knows how bad he screwed up, but you can’t go back in life and change things, you can’t even go back five minutes.

There was a lot of signs he would do things in front of his girlfriend and it was so outta character cause he wouldn’t do it in front of his daughter but it’s like Ray wanted her to know who he was but couldn’t say it in words. We all want acceptance and love at the same time but since love typically isn’t unconditional we make mistakes. Sucks being tested and not being able to do anything about it but if you love someone you don’t do violence in front of them right or wrong they will never look at you the same way. Such a good character and show.
