Now imagine a wide receiver catching a hitch pass, or a dig, or quick slant across the middle and Ray Lewis is coming at you, this is what doc rivers on doesn’t understand. Anyone can catch the ball, but everyone can’t take a hit.

Why do black dudes add extra syllables to variations of the word athlete?
@jayweathers2701

Never heard a black guy say it like that until ray…I think you’re just reaching to be honest 😂 And he wasn’t trying to say “ath-a-lete” He just added emphasis to the word athlete and especially the “aTHH” which made it sound like he added another syllable 😂

If you pause after “ath” it’s going to sound like you added the “ah” sound

@@jayweathers2701 Nope. He said ath-a-letics. This is a common thing, and very well known. They even did a bit about it with David Spade and Reggie Jackson in the movie Bench Warmers.
