@@pjfam18 was good that day for sure. The wreck is about 40 miles offshore. Out at about 50 miles it gets even better.

I am one of the ones that freedive at R2 R3 R5 M1R1. And the currents are very strong there.

sad to see people scuba spearfish, We usually do it with single breath freediving. not fair for the fish, sorry.

@@BahadirVardar-ww3oy if you’re going down on your ‘one breath’ with a mask/snorkel, fins and a speargun and took a motorized boat out to the dive site, then by your own standards you’re a cheater too.

@@SaintSimonsSportsman There are thousands of spearfisherman that jumps from jetties, or goes out from the beach like I did 30 years ago in MED.. no need to argue with me.

@@BahadirVardar-ww3oy coastal Georgia is murky at best due to the muddy rivers that empty into the ocean all along the coast. The seafloor is flat and sandy with nothing to spearfish on or over until about 30 miles out. All of the ‘reefs’ are manmade sunken items like old ships or rubble left over from construction projects. We do have an area of tanks and subway cars that were sunk for artificial reefing. Our tide rises and falls on average about 9 feet and the current rips towards shore and then away from shore at about 10 knots. When we do go spearfishing, we cannot see the wreck 85 feet down until we get about 50 feet down because it is still murky. If we attempted to free dive, most would be swept off the wreck before getting down. And these artificial reefs are the only areas where fish congregate so they’re also full of several species of sharks including bull and occasional whites. Even on tanks, it is dangerous and hard work to spearfish here. We do have decommissioned Navy towers 50 to 75 miles out where people free dive. I’d love nothing better than to walk off the beach and free dive spearfish in 20 feet of clear water. If we want to enjoy spearfishing, scuba tanks is the only safe way to do it.
