4:48 in the video. Higher resistance can also mean more windings in the can, as could be assumed with the weight. More windings would equal more resistance, but that can also equate to more torque. As far as maximum amps goes, that can be controlled, or will be in most cases, by the ESC itself. If it is a 6s ESC rated for only 90 amps, then most of these motors will work with a smaller than normal pinion gear to keep them from overheating. Now if it is a 50 amp, 3s rated ESC, then it will come down to what the weight of the RC is.

Good info. Could've been better if you showed us the actual motors u used in your test or the test it self. Thanks. [1]

Thanks for the comment Mike. The test is simply a comparison of the specifications from a manufactures spec sheet. An actual physical test would be a different video.

So riddle me this what's the difference between a castle 2028 1100kv and a hobby wing 56113 1100kv. What are the differences besides price?

Recently discovered your channel, as an engineer I enjoy your quantitative approach. Too many videos on youtube just doing speed runs using crazy high Kv and 'check your temperature' being the only requirement for ensuring safety of the ESC/Motor. Its clear you have experience with motors from different vendors, reliable data for the budget motor manufactures is hard find. Could you please include some recommendations ? Surpass(KK,rocket), X team, Hobbywing, racestar (I'm sure some of these are just rebranded). As a non-competitive hobbyist I am just looking for the best value motor.

@@RCexplained thanks! FYI. I just compared the spec sheets of 3650 motors Leopard and X-team, and I think X-team is the OEM and Leopard is a reband x-teamrc.com/product/motor/car/62.html www.leopardhobby.com/index.php/En/Goods/detail/id/37 I've seen you can buy the x-team motors less.

Thank you for your reply It’s a arrma limitless 43diff and 13input The spool is recommended for speed runs , Which is a 29 t Iv used that with a 32 pinion and it kept cutting out after 75 mph and gets very hot . It has a 34 stock spool 27 pin . Iv watched all you video with pen and paper I just can get my head around things . I would like the car to be has fast as it can with the set up it has there is a 2300kv tp motor , max 6 esc which is only 160amp, I want to be the fastest in the uk Iv got limitless stock wheels on with are 100mm

Great video's very helpful. I have a question about rotors interchangeable in stock class motors. Is there a standard for these classes from manufacturer to manufacturer?
@RCexplained

Good question. I don't know of any standard set for the rotors. I would only use the rotor from manufacture of the motor.

I have a team orion vortex vst pro 17.5 but couldn't seem to find a replacement rotor for it I got used and it very little magnetic pull when you spin the shaft I'm thinking it over heated.

@@ericwilson8789 You are right it does sound like the magnets got too hot. Are you certain this is the only damage that the motor suffered? Have you tried contacting the manufacture?

@@RCexplained I'm a old school on road nitro 10th and 8th scale racer. I'm just getting back into the hobby and new to brushless motors. I bought the motor used mounted it in my old losi xxx Kinwald Edition and past it down to my 9 year old who wants to start racing. Just recently I've been reading and checking out KZitem for more knowledge. It look like someone removed the shims from the bottom of the rotor it was rubbing on the sensors slightly I guess to get better timing. It was killing the rpm I put shims on the bottom to clear the sensor's rpms is better. I'm going to contact Orion and see if I can get a rotor for it. Lol sorry for the long message.
