Actually in my FPV screen I couldn't tell it was a kid until they started running around, and most of that area over by the car I could see them directly and I'm pretty sure they saw me and were aware that I could see them too. But even if that was not the case, yeah in Japan people generally don't mess with other people's stuff. I probably could have parked the car up there for a couple of days and come back to find it untouched.

How much did the car cost? I'm thinking about doing something similar to this and wonder around how much a car like this costs. As in, are $30 cars good enough or should I go for like the $100 or $300 ones?
@iforce2d
8 жыл бұрын
+Voyd Void This one (Tamiya CR-01) was around $250. I think a $30 one would be a bit difficult, but I originally started doing this with a $140 car (Tamiya CC-01) which still worked ok on smoother terrain. You'll want something with the steering servo and speed controller as separate plug-in components, whereas a cheap toy car will probably have everything integrated into one board.

+william sobral how can I try it if I don't know what you're talking about... is there some problem with the 'reliability' and range of this? Are you talking about the radio reception range, or the total drive distance range? What will be more reliable? Okay I did a little googling... are you talking about just replacing the lipo with li-ion cells like the 18650? Well, yes, that would get more range but only because I'd need at least 6 of them to handle the current this car can pull. I don't see what would be more reliable though...

Raphael Galvao I suppose theoretically it should be able to, if you set everything up and power it correctly. It probably uses the TS5823 inside anyway. Overall it's a lot easier to buy the pre-made one - it's set up nicely for correct power and heat-sink, only costs a few dollars more, you get a free antenna and you can change channel using switches on it. The only single down-side is, it will be a few grams heavier.

Quick question- do you have this project up on Github by any chance? I'm trying to get GPS data from an Adafruit GPS to an Arduino UNO (successful)- but want to then broadcast GPS data using BLE using a NRF51 development kit. (the GPS data would be in the scan response). NRF51 broadcast works fine.
@ksugahara
8 жыл бұрын
+Kenji Sugahara PS. In essence, looking how to get data from the Arduino Uno to the NRF51 dev kit. (are there any specific libraries you used to get the data from the arduino to the nRF24L01- and then from the nRF24L01 to the Android device)
@iforce2d
8 жыл бұрын
+Kenji Sugahara I don't really understand what you mean... if you have the data being read from the GPS to the Uno, then you have two numbers (lat/lon) available to use right? And if you have the NRF51 broadcast working fine, then... you send those two numbers... I must be missing something. In any case the source code for most of the stuff in my videos can be found here www.iforce2d.net/sketches if it helps. You might be interested in a video I made where I give an explanation of just about every single line of code in a simple R/C car transmitter and receiver using the nRF24, but I'm not sure how similar it is to the NRF51 since I've never used one: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xoyk34SJepeXq4o#t=3m54s I'm also a bit puzzled about what you would do with GPS data being sent over bluetooth - typically bluetooth ranges are very short right? Like 10-20m or so? I can't think of a useful application for sending GPS positions of something that will only be about 20m away, at that distance you can probably easily see the transmitter, and the resolution of the GPS (about 3m usually) would mean the value is not that useful anyway.

In Japan that palm-facing-down wave actually means "come here", not goodbye like the rest of the world would probably interpret it :) Something is causing the radio connection to cut out, so it holds the last input state for one second which was the high throttle I gave it to take off, then it cuts throttle completely (I'm glad I made that timeout only one second and not any longer!). I think the dial1 potentiometer is faulty - you can see in the Android display how it is jittering around, and seems to be linked to the movement of some of the other sticks. When I turn the pot I can hear a squelchy sound as if it has too much grease inside. When I was putting the TX together, I noticed while testing with my little OLED screen tester thingy that the packets per second would decrease a lot if I turned that dial quickly. It did not seem to be a problem when the dial was not being moved though, so I didn't worry about it. But now it seems much worse, and the TX batteries also go flat much quicker than they should. I'll try completely removing the dials from the circuit and see if it helps. The second time it failed was simply due to three zip-ties being broken :)
@muh1h1
9 жыл бұрын
OK, so the absolute resitence of the Pot has probably changed dramatically, causing almost a short... you should really just get rid of that one pot or replace it with a better one :) so much for "they seam high quality" :D but anyway, i really love your videos, and you have inspired me to build my own drone :) i hope today my FPV Transmitter and reciever will arrive, i can't wait to try flyin with it :)
