The FAA are doing their best to put an end to our rc fun and simplicity.

Then there is a middle ground, which is paragliding, you are on the aircraft and as long as you are careful you can look for good adventures.

In my full scale days, I saw that pilots with no RC background tended to underestimate many dangers because extreme situations were just theory to them. They had never experienced things like unflyable CG or overwhelming turbulence in real life, something most modellers do on a regular basis.

Real-world private pilot here just sold my full-scale airplane and switching over to rc due to ridiculous high cost. My plan is to eventually do fpv off it. Hopefully rc will satisfy my flying passion.

Dont forget you can also fly types of aircraft that you could never IRL. Fighter aircraft, Jets, expensive or rare prop aircraft etc.

I’m gonna have to go with the full scale fighter being the most fun in aviation. And somebody else paid for it! But, once that gravy train was over……

I'm at the that point where I'm seriously interested in changing careers from Engineer to Commercial Pilot. I've been flying RC for a few years and been seriously bit by the flying bug. What did you do to get into full scale and what advice (if any) do you have for making the transition? This is my favorite RC channel BTW! I like how you guys show your mistakes and your realistic approach to everything - not to mention how your channel conveys just how fun the hobby is. Would like to see more of product reviews. I trust your word over everyone else's. They seem to just be sales people for their sponsors.

Thanks for the support! Find any local mom and pop flight schools (avoid the big name pilot churners) and try and find an instructor who isn't about to leave for the regionals. Do intro flights at a few schools and pick which one you like most that fits your personality, and especially the same for finding an instructor. Check out our video titled, "20 Ways RC Preps You For Full Scale" if you haven't seen that yet either. 👍

I just sold my real airplane becuase it's ridiculously expensive now, including ultralights. Ultralight flying used to be affordable but not anymore, so I'm switching to fpv rc. Problem is the regulations are getting as complex as full-scale aircraft.

Alot of R/C planes, jets, & helos, can & will get into several thousand dollars just for one aircraft model. . . .depending on the size of the aircraft, what all ya have into them, & including the transmitter radios & the powerplants. . . jet turbine engines like the PH-5 Jet Cats.
