Nice job! Buddy and I built a hybrid for his yard. Electronics I chose were quite basic from the RC world. Dimension Engineering dual motor controller for movement, 3channel pistol grip radio and receiver with a servo on original gas mower cut off switch. Buddy wanted an alternator to keep the battery charged. Not sure what is going on with you high current contactors, we just used a big switch, simplifies the wiring.

It's too bad the tires were too aggressive because they look really cool. My second build has been on hold for a while. I'm stuck trying to figure out a way to accommodate the deck height adjustment with a rigid frame. Good work. It looks great.

Yeah I initially thought the wheels would be fine, but the motor acceleration speed is too high when making turns. Thanks for the comments.
@controlfreq9346

@@GreenTechTown Are you using a dual motor controller set up for tank type drive? Acceleration will be controlled by how fast you move the throttle. Dimension Engineering dot com has a sabertooth controller I used.

Good job, not sure about the 'lazy man', for me it look like you put a lot of work in this. I'm curious, can you make the swivel wheel not swivel just to see if they need to be swivel and how much straight wheel can improve the direction.
@GreenTechTown
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andre. I'm sure you could. But for my application it was cheaper to use swivel wheels instead of wheels that would need some type of electrical hardware added and more mechanical work to steer the mower in a certain direction. It has been a while since I looked into RC mowers, so it is likely someone has figured out a better method.

I'm not sure based on the information, but what you usually want to consider is the amp draw and voltage. I would recommend asking the guys over at www.dimensionengineering.com which is where I purchased my motor controller.

Thanks for making this video bro. I'm designing an RC mower myself, and this offered some great insight. Did you ever make a V3?
@GreenTechTown

Awesome to hear. And no, I haven't started on a V3. I'm thinking about creating a simple way to mount my wheel barrel container on top to help move dirt and other heavy items around the hard.
@samhziegler
5 жыл бұрын
Have you considered maybe making a trailer like attachment for it? That way you wouldn't add unnecessary bulk to the mower and reduce efficiency when only mowing? I was also kind curious what type of mower you started with? Kinda looks like the deck and motor from a black n decker. I've been scouring FB/CL locally for a decent electric mower to use as a donor, but no luck yet.
