I got out of jail last September and lived 12 miles from my job at a supermarket and sometimes I had a ride in, sometimes I didnt. I'd walk with my thumb up and hope someone picked me up, but if not, it took me 4 hours to walk that distance. I only had to walk it twice thankfully. I found an apartment located a tenth of a mile away from my job 2 months after my release from jail.

49:18 "bear in mind where do I live?" This whole line about that area is so funny. Especially when he breaks character and says "Gerard Avenue OH JESUS!"

Couple of quick notes from someone who used to care about car clubs too much: Bigger car meets are super hard to organise in public car parks. As you have worked out all the biggest ones are attached to big business (like Bunnings, IKEA etc) and they are super busy on Sunday mornings. This is why a stupid number of car displays happen on grass at an oval or something similar. Not a good move to try and take over a business car park of something that is running on the day. As said, often clubs will organise something with a public park or oval, so everything is on the grass and not getting in the way of normal parking, but obviously this gets in the way of being able to just bail out and leave at any time you want, and there'll also be expectations of safety and management from a lot of councils that run the land. Generally a fair bit of official organisation is required It was mentioned in the stream that many car meets are just unofficial and happen in a car park late at night, but yes, are risky and can get overrun by bogans (and therefore the cops), definitely not the scene that you would want I would expect. One option that I've seen work a few times is just taking over a street or two in an industrial area on a Sunday morning as (look around Port Melbourne as an example, it's just filled with factories for quite large part of it). It's out of the way, usually quiet as it's ever going to be, and you don't have the issue of random people coming across the gathering and bringing a crowd you don't want. You do get patrols running through the areas, so still need to make sure people are behaving. Hopefully you can connect with someone who is in the car meet scene still and they might be able to suggest a good location. On a more positive note, for riding a motorcycle near Melbourne, you'll hear the names "Black Spur" and "Reefton Spur" talked about as the best (Reefton is better due to less traffic IMHO, and was my go to for a long time, I have a way too long video on my channel you can see as an example) And finally: Sydney is New York Melbourne is San Francisco (or maybe Boston) Brisbane is Las Vegas Adelaide is 20 years ago And Perth is so far away that we don't know anything about them and they don't even want to be part of Australia.

I'm from Brisbane and it is not an analogue for Las Vegas. Las Vegas never sleeps, Brisbane has the bed time of a retiree.

Oh fair point. My partner flew back on Saturday night and could barely get dinner at the airport as the places in the food court were closing at 6:30pm But it has the soul of Vegas, that is to say… none ;)

Sydney is LA because it's all traffic and urban sprawl. Same climate too. Very different from NYC where nobody drives. Melbourne is San Francisco. Brisbane is like Portland/Seattle with Miami's weather. Darwin is like all the wacky people from Philadelphia and Jacksonville got dropped into a small town on the coast of Belize. Adelaide is like Vermont.

Cadler park. Lol. It's dirt car park and the oval is unused which was auscar/NASCAR. There's a drag strip there and race circuit.

Carparks in Melbourne are big, but usually multi level. Our car shows get monitored by the police and need to be registered too.

DFO Moorabbin is the biggest open air carpark I can think of in the general area of Melbourne you were hovering over. Everywhere else is built up because land value is too high to waste but it's next door to an airport so less residential and height restrictions.

Safety beach, rosebud etc are quiet beaches, phillip island is connected by a bridge, with heavier waves and beaches, but the beach goes all the way to the city of Melbourne.

I use the term ute for every pickup that is based on a Car. To me it seems like Mr. Regular uses the term for every pickup in Australia. In europe (and at many more places) you can see alot of pickups that are build just like the one you called a Ute.
