I have used Autoglym set (once). After the cleaning, the first round of treatment/protector did not give good enough water repellency (to my expectation) when it rained next day. So I repeated just the treatment within a week and was/am very happy with the end result. In my judgement, the "protector" should be double in size (compared to cleaner), or it should have more "juice" in it. I did this in September 2020 and when washing the car yeasterday (June 2022) I was surpriced that it still works in most of the areas (note the fabirc roof gets usually just a rinse in car wash). For next round I would have bought the Autoglym protecor if sold separately, but its not, so I got Fabric Guard 303. Disclaimer, the car spends 5-6 winter months in a garage and when kept outside (especially when there is water or pollen in the air), it is mostly under a ~"waterproof" cover. So there is not much "wearing" going on in a form of rain, but atleast it does not vanish by it self.

I think your assessment of Autoglem is about right. My car is outside all the time. Certainly Fabrisil is out performing so far. I also prefer the paint on compared to spray.

Have to say I haven’t tried either of those but after some research I opted for Renovo products, cleaner and the sealer and been pleased with the outcome 👍

Hi John👍. Another great video. The Autoglym worked well for me. But of course Purdey lives in a garage, so its not too much of a challenge for it. Your experience will persuade me to try Fabsill or similar next time. The Surfex is brilliant stuff👍

Thanks John. It seems that others have also had inconsistent results with Fabsill. Perhaps I will explore further next time and test something else.

I did pretty much the same thing with my XKR. 2-3 applications of Febsil lasted no more than 4 weeks before water began to soak in again. Now the green algae has come back in avengeance! The local chap who’s doing the ceramic coating at the end of the month recommended buying a wet vacuum and carrying out 2-3 deep cleans first before applying Febsil. ( He had his own proprietary sealer but he said Febsil is just as good, really! Will let you know the results EOM…

Hi Mark. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have had good results with this compared to a couple of car brands. I am hoping this will last well again. I certainly will be interested to hear how you get on.

I was in mono until the end inside shots, so not sure whether it was me or you? Nice result! I have the Auto Glym which I was going to apply when the weather gets better, don't think I'll bother now!

Hi Matt. My mic is playing up or my GoPro. It's not you. I have been post editing the sound on recent videos. I forgot to do this one. ....sorry. I thought the AutoGlym would be better. Perhaps I didn't use enough of it. Either way the Fabsil is far superior in my opinion.

I've used Renovo on my xk8 soft top and also on my better half's BMW M5 roof and it worked well on both, (didn't make the BMW any prettier!) Do you have any problem opening your Jags roof particularly on cooler days, mine seems to need a helping hand to push it down at the bottom of the glass to make it fold into place, it never gives any problem closing. Fabsil has been around for years and is a good product on tents and awnings, ( I run a campsite), but from what I remember the old formula was very flammable, as I found out ! Great video again, Cheers, Jon

No I've not come across an issue opening the roof. I do know that changing the hydraulic fluid brings benefits. Perhaps that could be a cheap place to start?

Thank you, I was thinking of doing that, I now have a much more serious problem, my better half is getting rid of the BMW M6 convertible, she is scared stiff of the damn thing, very expensive to mend, rubbish gearbox and difficult to park. We are going to look at a 2011 XK convertible 5litre tomorrow, its a one off, bright metallic pink! Will you John, Damien and Simon still talk to me? Jon
