I think Amber hears what she wants to hear…when a dietician says give into your cravings they mean have a bit of whatever you’re craving not eat a whole litre of ice cream/ sharebag of cheetos….but she will do it her own way then blame the professionals as she has done every time! While I’m VERY anti-plastic, I do wanna say that, as someone with pretty severe mental illness and executive function struggles, the difference between cut up pineapple and a whole ass pineapple that I have to cut is MASSIVE. Especially in ALR’s situation where she’s trying to learn how to take care of herself in a different way. That shit is hard. So make it as easy as possible. As the great KC Davis (creator of Strugglecare and author of How to Keep House While Drowning) says, “You can’t save the rainforest if you’re depressed.” Sometimes, you have to do wasteful stuff to survive long enough to heal and reduce waste later. It’s just a reality of mental illness & other functional issues. I get that ALR does other unnecessary wasteful stuff, and sure, call her out. But I do think it is CRITICALLY important to identify the difference between meaningless waste (buying 75 plastic doohickeys and then throwing them all in a landfill) and necessary for the moment waste (cutting down on the steps required to choose a healthy food). Btw I HIGHLY recommend KC Davis to anyone who struggles with severe mental illness or disability and who experiences difficulty, judgement, or shame around your self-care, hygiene, state of your household, etc. (Not saying Zach was doing that here btw. The book recommendation is unrelated to the video specifically)

I beg to differ about how she’s marketing her cameo… she is guilt e-begging the audience when there was never mention of the cameo being set up for “outpatient”… she should invest in insurance and get coverage. In my eyes it’s a transactional version of a go-fund me and we all know how that went… If she was that hard on money, you don’t need to go to Whole Foods to get healthy foods. Regarding her diet, she needs a whole bariatric team not just a “dietician”. I think anyone would recommend she goes to inpatient which would keep her off YT which clearly adds to her problems….

the thing is.. she has binge eating disorder. the dietician probably DID tell her to eat what she is craving because restriction will just make her binge. BUT they probably told her to eat until full not stuffed (ie listening to hunger cues). she says she doesn’t eat snacks normally but like .. gorl.. what you’ve been doing for years clearly isn’t working, so stop resisting the treatment you’re paying out of pocket for, and even acknowledge that you desperately need. it’s truly exhausting to see her constantly thinking she knows more than the professionals she pays for their guidance and knowledge.
@aimeefriedman822

We're missing a lot. She had to wait for the dietician appointment, so she "is doing something else". What does that mean? Did she make the original appointment anyway? How is it that the dietician didn't give her a food plan? The dietician probably has a plethora of diets to hand out. Why does she have the only Psychologist that won't let her talk about weight loss? It sounds to me like the Psych feels she's dodging questions by talking about dieting, so Amber views that as the Psych won't talk about weight loss. The Psych will talk about anything, but also guide you thru whatever path they think is best to take her. Also, Amber shows all signs of someone who has made up their mind that they "KNOW WHAT TO EAT", but actually, just doesn't want to hear, "You can't eat rice". Another thing is that Amber is stuck on saying she's a "Binge Eater". Amber IS AN EATER, PERIOD, ALL DAY LONG, ON THE SNEAK, IN THE BATHROOM, HIDING... OTHERWISE SHE WOULDN'T BE 600lbs.

I can't remember but I think she said it was endometrial/uterine cancer, which only requires hysterectomy in early stages I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) so no need for chemo/radiation etc which is why she probably didn't look a whole lot different. I also think I recall her talking about PET scan which can evaluate the whole body for potential spreading of the cancer. I very much doubt she would know what a PET scan was otherwise.

Precut veggies are great if you are a. someone who works long hours and doesn't have enough time to both cook and enjoy downtime/be with family; or b. someone with motor skills issues or a disability that makes cutting vegetables difficult. Other than those two groups, I feel like they are a waste of both money and plastic. And about the "making the right choices" argument: that can be true, but it is so easy to precut veggies and fruits at home if you make it part of the grocery store routine (as long as you have the time, which is CLEARLY does).

The thing is that most of her weight would probably come off if she just developed a healthy relationship with food. If she is 500 pounds now by just stopping the binge eating and wasn’t consuming the mind blowing calories that she was having to consume just to maintain this weight. And it sounds like the professionals are just trying to get her to function with a healthier mindset involving food.
