January is when all the physical blu rays and cds are gone and I'm sure games are gone 2nd quarter so they just have to hold out til them. Such bs because the video game industry now wants to cater to only the online only crowd now and it sucks and I for one will not purchase the digital only consoles. As long as there will be brick and mortar stores, flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales ect, physical media won't die out so to me that's a silver lining there.

You guys dropped the DEATHNAIL on those negative comments! Nicely handled!! Physical media and being able to hold something (physically) creates a much deeper connection than something that's intangible. This has been a sales technique for years. When you go into a CostCo or Sam's Club there is a reason why vendors sample products or put product samples into your hands. It creates a connection for the buyer. When everything is digital there is a loss of ownership/connection.

Wes, I just found Chopping Mall on DVD a few days ago at the Starvation Army! The point about physical 4k UHD's vs streaming are spot on. I would assume companies will continue to make some just for the videophiles, but in far less quantity. Nintendo lags behind, so hopefully we get a couple generations of physical cards. The only problem is the size of the NAND on the cards will have to be huge in the future...we'll see, I guess 😒

This trend has been going on for longer than this. I worked at a Target in 2010. My boss would often have team meetings in which he would proudly say that the physical media would be gone from the store by 2012. I could only afford dial up in 2012, broadband was barely available where I lived. The one disappointing thing that has happened is now that I can get out and do the shopping I wanted to do for physical media as a younger person, now the places don't have it available. Suncoast (while pricey) is gone, and keeping up is more expensive. There is a lot of fun in being able to go somewhere and find something cool and unexpected, even if it is media related. I enjoy that, and hope to do it in the future.

First off, the main thing I like from your channel is your discussions and analysis about the market. It makes me think a little more about the current state of gaming. Keep up the awesome work. And second, I'm 42, and some of the comments by the are completely hilarious. I've always been the opposite, I always look at the good and supporting people in their creative endeavors. And just seeing people my age being laughably bitter is partly hilarious and partly very sad. And finally, I collect all physical media, and not just games. I mostly shop at thrift stores and the like. I just like having the physical item, maybe it's my love for collecting, or maybe because I grew up with it. I do like the convenience of digital games. I'm currently working on boosting my 360 digital collection before the store closes. It sucks that some games could just disappear just flat out sucks. Anyway I hope you guys don't mind the book I just wrote for you. lol Can't wait for your future videos.

With cases like that Need for Speed Carbon and Deadpool digital games, people get confused where to find them. They are trying to search them on the store and they will not find them, as they are delisted. You need to go into your download history and download it from there. It may be a pain in the ass to dig through, ESPECIALLY on a PS3 if you have a large library, but those games are there to redownload and they are not totally gone.

Hi guys, I love your channel - ignore those trolling comments!! I totally agree with your take on physical games and the way the gaming industry is going. I’m in the UK and it’s the same here, most stores are moving away from stocking any physical games at all. The main gaming store chain here used to be 100% video games but these days it’s around 40% and they have diversified into board games, collector cards, merchandise etc. etc. to keep going. Eventually physical media sold will just be a “code in a box” to download from servers. My Xbox Series X and Playstation 4 collections are digital and really worry one day I’ll lose them when someone switches off a server. I’m just really glad I still have my physical Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games to fall back on. Great video as always, guys.

Hi guys! Great video! I too am sad how physical media is dying. I wanted to comment that the Spyro Trilogy Ps4/Xbox1 has two versions in the wild. The original version only had the first game on disc. The revised edition has all three games on the disc. The only way to tell is by looking at the copyright date on the disc, the older version has 2018, the new version will have both 2018 and 2019 listed. This is the only way to tell which version you have. They continued to use the original artwork for the game case, so you will not be able to tell which version is contained in a new sealed copy. I chose to buy used where I could examine the physical disc for the dual dates. Anyways thanks for the great content!

I saw an article saying that Walmart is on the same boat as getting rid of physical media in 2024. Its a sad reality to the future of physical media.

Great video 🍻 You should give your opinion talking about the future of physical media and the fact that companies dedicated to publishing physical games are emerging, such as limited run, red art games, etc..., and about the fact that large game producers pay to publish their games on physical media to these companies

I have a budget for Black Friday this year, and I'm trying not to go all out on movies games and shows. It's the end of an era for certain. I just don't know how hard/soft of an end it's going to be for games. I'm treating this black Friday as the penultimate one for physical games. There's still a possibility that physical video games will become seasonal items for the retail stores. That and my hope that collectors editions will still be physical (but still semi reasonable priced). The great reset is likely the main reason this is happening, which is part of the encouragement of theift and lawlessness now in the cities.

It is awesome how many viewers got in there feelings about this, you either agree or not, for my self I like digital however nothing beat going to a store and just do some browsing and buying. And about the beer, please bring back what you drink in the videos seems it been sometime ago, I say cheers lads just be yourselfs and it is good that you bring topics to the table. One of the major reasons I like the channel as you give your on censored opinion about whatever 🙏

I'm pretty sure video games are some of the most environmentally friendly objects out there in a way because no one throws them away they trade them in and resell them.

There is one part of the gaming section that's flourishing at stores.....THE CLEARANCE SECTION! Take the win where you can, but in the long run this will only exacerbate the issue as inventory gets flushed out.

In Britain we have a chain called CeX that trades all sorts of electronics, devices and media, including physical games. The best thing about them is that for old games, especially the expensive ones, they're usually the cheapest place to get them (significantly cheaper than the average eBay price for example). The games sections of large supermarkets definitely seem to be smaller than what they were 10-15 years ago, although I seem to remember that many shops never had them, only movies. You'd often have to go to a dedicated games shop such as GAME.

To be honest, that is great news for us THE GAMERS, guys, no scallpers, no dust or shelf keepers or wannabe gamers, understand that because of such people a lot of true gamers cannot even buy a game these days because they have DESTROYED our hobby.
