It is their school. This was the last day of class. They’d already been on Ellen & they videoed this concert as a resume for Berklee College of Music where they spent the summer. They did a number of covers to showcase each person’s skills as well as original songs from their debut EP ‘Escape the Mind’, including this one, the first song they wrote together as a band. The others they wrote individually as homework from Ales bass teacher. P.S. the song ‘Escape the Mind’ is my personal favorite off the EP. Any time Pau touches 🎹 I’m all in.

The guy in the red shirt in the far side of the stage is Pablo Gonzalez Sarre, Ale’s Bass Teacher and the one who challenged them to start writing their own songs. He is also the Bassist for the Mexican band Los Claxons. In a typically classy move, TW invited several of their Teachers and Mentors, including Pablo, to join them onstage and incorporated them into their 2022 Teatro Metropolitan Show…They remember who helped them in their journey.

If I remember correctly Dany was 15, Pau was 12 and Ale was 10 yrs old here, and they are playing at "Liceo de Monterrey" which is the private school they attended in their home city. Free Falling is part of their first EP called Escape The Mind which they wrote and recorded just to have the experience of producing an album. In their own words, they were just trying to find their sound, so the songs from this EP are "all over the place" in that they sound very different one from another. But yeah, they were already legends in the making. Cheers!

This is why they are so very special to the world. This spark over 10 years ago has turned into a raging fire that ushered in a new and wonderful rebirth of rock. Dany, Pau and Ale are a sweet gift to music and they busted their butts to get to where they are today. Like The Beatles, we will still be celebrating and loving The Warning 50 years from now!!! #GetWarned.

One of their earliest tracks, and in my opinion, still a great song! This is the first one they wrote together as The Warning, it is the first The Warning song in history, (as a band), and it certainly sound like them. To me, its the signature sound that resonates like DNA through every song they write, to this day.

When they were very little they were inspired by the video game "Rock Band". This song Free Falling actually ended up on Rock Band IV and there is a video of the girls touring Harmonics (parent company of Rock Band) when they are shown their song in the pre-production version! It is part of their video diary for the Ellen DeGeneres show from attending 6 weeks at the Burklee College of Music in 2015. Here is that video link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lJuMl4p9np5ln3o

Glad you went back to the beginnings. This was on June 8, 2015 at Liceo de Monterrey... their bilingual private parochial school... Their friends were singing along in English! So cool. They have said in interviews that writing this song was their pivotal moment, the first song they wrote together. They realized it was possible to make something, put it out in the world, and get a reaction to it. Pau singing *Escape the Mind* and *Fade Away* at this concert are two examples of her early determination and positivity. This whole concert is worth hearing. Their originals at this concert were from the EP, *Escape the Mind.* It's on KZitem in its entirety.

This concert at their school, Liceo de Monterrey (Redwood), is a landmark in The Warning's journey that started from their basement. After their Enter Sandman went viral in 2014 (Metallica's Kirk Hammett tweeted in 2015 - the drummer kicks maximum ass) the girls decided to write their own music instead of doing more covers. The group's mentor & Ale's bass teacher, Pablo González Sarre (Latin Grammy nominated bassist & founder of Mexican band Los Claxons), initiated the sisters into writing their own songs. The 1st effort was published as an E.P. in April, 2015 - Escape the Mind. Pablo suggested that they enroll for Berklee's 6 weeks summer course. A crowdfunding was started. Then Ellen called them to her show and along with Target funded them to Berklee. Now Pau at 13 & Ale at 10 were underage for that particular course. So to showcase their proficiency The Warning gave a concert in their school which was recorded professionally & sent to Berklee's admission committee. Ale played Hysteria by Muse for bass, Pau selected Everlong by Foo Fighters for drums & Dany chose Crazy Train by Ozzy for guitar. Followed by Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses to show their expertise as a band. Then the group played original songs from Escape the Mind. Wish I could see the reaction of selection panel at Berklee when they watched the tapes. A 10 year old Ale showing off by playing Hysteria's rigorous bassline from top of the fretboard in reverse fingering!!! Pau going into a frenzy with Everlong at the age of 13. Ale's bass teacher at Beerklee said that he expected the band to win its 1st Grammy in 10 years. The Warning are still on course for 2025 Grammy despite losing 2 years to Covid.

If it helps at all, here's a handy guide to their ages based on the year of the recording. Since Dani was born late January of 2000, her age is pretty easy to identify, so, 2015 means she's 15 and this year (2024) she's 24. Pau was born early February two years later - 2002, so she's basically 2 years younger than Dani. Ale was born mid December of 2004, so she's basically 5 years younger than Dani, except for a month and a half or so when she's only 4 years younger. So, the handy guide to their ages when performing starts with Dani being the age of the year, Pau 2 years younger and Ale, for all practical purposes, 5 years younger. Which means in this performance, they were 15, 13 and 10. It's been quite a ride watching them grow up and, they're still relatively young.

I must give you a lot of credit for going back this far. [Very] Few other reaction channels will do this after watching one of their more recent videos. I watched your reaction of "Evolve" at the VMAs which was recorded in 2023, as you know. This performance was 2013/2014 timeframe so about 9-10 years ago prior to the VMAs. They have grown in so many ways between those two points of time. I have so many favorite songs of The Warning, but this is definitely in the top 10 for me. I believe it was their first released single on Spotify, et al., as well. Kudos for watching this early performance.

To demonstrate 'The Warning' beginnings, here is Pau, who in, I guess, 2020, supposedly took on a social media challenge to _learn, play, and sing_ Radioheads *CREEP* in 4 hours. She did this in less than 3 hours and this video was only her 3rd try. The 'YES!' At the end of the song was expressing her excitement on completing the challenge in time! It's raw, just her, and the (slightly out of tune) piano in the family living room. kzitem.info/news/bejne/omyPmoyme6qbiGUsi=bzIR7S9G5ryRuc_5

There were two videos I saw on the day I discovered this band that made me realize The Warning was going to be an international success. This was one of them. Never mind that the song is exceptionally good. I was focused on the crowd. Most kids these days don’t listen to hard rock, especially girls. Not only were they into the music, but they knew the lyrics. These kids were fans! I think back to when kids I went to school with formed bands and played a “battle of the bands” or a talent show. We didn’t show up to go to a concert. We showed up to listen to some terrible music and laugh about it later. But this crowd was INTO IT!

Most bands when creating music are thinking about the song becoming famous and successful. Free Falling at the other hand might be one of the most sincere and honest songs ever created without any pretense, they didn't make it thinking if people were gonna like it or not, it was not gonna be a "thing" they were not gonna even record it. But I'll take over any of the "Billboard Rock Top 40"... ( except for Sick)
