Marko (the bassist) is a great singer in his own right. He used to be the lead singer in his own band and still does 'solo' gigs on the side. In Nightwish, he has some songs where he has the lead vocals. If you want to see that, I can recommend "The Islander'" Live at Tampere. Link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/u6Vu1JeBmGecrZg

Chase Carneson ... thanks for your well-educated, well-spoken reactions. The Nightwish Army really appreciate good reviews of their (possessive intended) treasured band. I've watched a lot of "reactors" ranging from purely emotional reactions (I actually recommend watching one other reactor, HalfLifeSistah) to other genre reviewers. Your reactions will likely attract more subs as we in the "Army" appreciate informed viewers. If I may...The Poet And The Pendulum is a true magnum opus and one of my favorites. It elicits a range of emotions and paints a broad canvas. The visual orchestration is as important as the lyrical. Welcome to the "Army". Enjoy your enlistment.

Just discovered Nightwish. So NOT a heavy metal fan, but Nightwish incorporates so many genres and textures, I am a fan. Their live performances are epic rock/metal/lyrical opera!!Have binge watched much of their online catalog, and fell in love with them all. Nightwish’s song Poet and the Pendulum is worth a listen, and it’s a real rollercoaster in its pace and style. Fair warning, though, that it comes from a real dark point in Tuomas’s past, and needs a bit of reading up on before listening.

Ghost Love Score is usually one to kinda ease you into Nightwish. All members of NW have their moments to shine and all perfected their craft. If you want to keep going with the heavier songs I recommend The Devil and the deep blue ocean (live at Buenos Aires) or you can try out Yours is an empty hope (live on Baltic Cruise) - for some Floor growls, or you can try out Song of Myself, Seven days to the wolves, Storytime... tbh whatever you choose will be an experience in itself! 😊 Keep up the reactions 🤘

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish....they have such a wide range of music ... a genius composer/songwriter...musicians that are all on point (and great other vocalists) , and a singer/frontwoman that is otherworldly. Enjoy the rabbit hole as all of us have. Emppu is a great guitarist...I always feel he doesn’t play a note that’s unnecessary (including his pinch harmonics and pick slides). Marko (bassist) sings on different songs and is outstanding (Song of Myself, older stuff like Master Passion Greed, The Islander for more folk style singing). He and Floor’s harmonies are so great. Great reaction and breakdown of the song. Subscribed 🤘

"Who is this band and what did they do to the other Nightwish?" - funny enough, both Ghost Love Score and Romanticide are on the same album "Once". And yeah, Marco's got an incredible range of his own. If you dive further into exploring their voices, you might notice that the "effect" on that - overload-thing - wasn't much more than a reverb or echo. They both are capable of a lot of vocal juggling. Anyway, as a musician myself, you got me hooked on your actual analysis compared to the usual waffle that's over all of YT. Kudos and good luck on your way down this rabbit hole rollercoaster. There's no turning back now. lol

Roy Smothers thats an urban legend (confirmed by Marco). He sent his album to Maiden management for consideration to replace Bruce back in -93, whether or not he was even considered is not know to anyone. Steve Harris apparently at some interview said there was tape from a scandinavian guy who sounded like a mix between Bruce and Dio but we dont even know if he was talking about Marco or some other singer. Marco was talking about this in an interview on a Finnish radio show and they even asked him if he has ever talked about this with Steve later on, and Marco said something along the lines of ”if I can barely remember sending a tape back then, I’m not going to ask whether or not he remembers listening to my tape among the other 8000 tapes that was sent to them”. And knowing Maiden they wanted a Brit, not a random guy from scandinavia. And lets be honest I love Nightwish and Marco but as a singer in Maiden, I dont think he would’ve fit in those massive boots.

Roy Smothers Blaze wasnt a bad singer but his voice was so different from Bruce’s for whom most of the songs were written (excluding the first 2 records Iron Maiden and Killers where Paul Dianno sang). Song that were written for Blaze werent bad but his era was completely different sound-wise. If Steve and the band were able to find someone who was close to Bruce’s talent they would’ve hired him on the spot. Goes to show its not easy to replace a god-like singer like Bruce or Floor.

You are one of the best, if not the best reactor on these kind of songs, while you know the techniques behind the sounds, even on the live concerts. That is remarkable. And Nightwish are absolutely astounding in live concerts, with so many different styles, mix and special sounds. There are 3 singer in Nightwish, Floor which you already has discovered can deliver Floorgasms (it is ok with Floor this word), and the Bassist Marko, and Troy that's a multi instrument genius. I would suggest My Walden as next, to show you another style - celtic - where Troy is singing and showing some skills - from Tampere 2015 or Wembley 2015. Great reaction from you 👍 🤘

Hey, new subscriber here from Buenos Aires, Argentina, also in the "Nightwish Army" haha. I loved your GLS reaction, i have some knowledge in musical theory but am not really a musician so i loved your tecnical comments about the composition, the performance and all. Very impressive how you sort of predicted the "Floorgasm" in the end. Here is the other side of Nightwish, more heavy and less symphonic, and IMO it's the best way to introduce people in the band, so you can see in a nutshell the ridiculous range of things that they can do. As additional data Ghost Love Score and Romanticide both belong to the same album, with Tarja (the first singer), and are consecutive in the track list. But the Wacken 13 versions with Floor take them to the next level. After this you can go different ways, as the other comments already informed. But most of what they do live is great. Looking forward to continue the journey with you and will also be checking out your videos of other bands, like Jinjer. Cheers!

Here's a compliment for you: I would really argue for your video not to be copyright infringement. Basically all other reactions are, beyond a shadow of a doubt (as enjoyable as they are). The depth and detail of your commentary and *analysis* (beyond just "I like this") is actually a worthwhile transformation beyond just listening to the original song. You honestly could go through the entire 2013 Wacken Performance (in full on youtube) and it would be grand. Then add the live version of "The Poet and the Pendulum" and you are golden. My vote goes towards "Song of myself" or "Amaranthe" next. Either way, you earned a subscriber today, I learned a few neat details about songs I already loved.

Well... I just came from your Ghost Love Score reaction, and I see here you done got on the Fandom Train for the bassist Marko. I REALLY feel like you're are so ready to hear more of him. So, I recommend The Islander (live at Tempere), Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live or studio, but I'd be curious to hear you compare both versions), and Wish I Had An Angel. All three feature his vocals very prominently and all have a wildly different feel to the music. If you liked what you heard here, then you NEED to react to those songs. And yes, you have kept me entertained for at least a time during my day, so thank you for that! Keep 'em coming!

Great reaction man!! love the way you go to details no other reactor has pointed out yet. Also, that amazing glissando at the end? No effects whatsoever, just them harmonizing and having fun at stage blowing up our brains, they're that good. That's why they chose to make so many harmonic sounds for the new album's songs, the 3 singers together sound heavenly.

To comment on Marko,.. when you said he could be the frontman of his own band i had to laugh because he is. His band is called Tarot ;) as far as i remember they were founded in the 80s and pioneered finish heavy metal. they are kinda cult over there ;)

Another great reaction! If you like groups with two vocalists I’d recommend Amaranthe massively! My best description of their sound is power metal meets euro pop 😂 so good, beautiful harmonies, and lead female vocalist has some of the best vocal agility, runs and riffs Iv ever heard in metal.

Floor is an amazing singer.... for best examples see her sing Phantom of the Opera on a Swedish show with Hank Poort (played Phantom in Sweden) and along as a guest singer with another symphonic band and friends called Epica - Sancta Terra live at Retrospect.

Dutch.... Floor is Dutch and it was a Dutch TV show called "beste zangers" where Floor amazed us every week with her skills. Henk Poort indeed played The Phantom but in the Dutch version. Andrew Lloyd Webber called him the best phantom so defiitely a must watch for Chase

You sir, just got a new subscriber! Amazing reactions to Nightwish! You channel will explode soon and you in for a loooong ride. Everything Nightwish has is pure gold (wait until you listen to the masterpiece album Tuomas wrote that was release not even a month ago). Usually, new reactors are advised to listen to a few of their song sbefore going into the (imo) two masterpieces of this band. I do believe you are ready for them so please, react to The Poet and the Pendulum (live at wembley 2015) but you must read the backstory first in order to fully understand. Never thought metal would be able to make people cry? Tell me after! Also, The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere - this is loooong one (20+ minutes and you must wait until the very end of it) Enjoy, you`ll never find a band like this before!

Thnx 4 this. Go on with the stuff. Wellcome to the Nightwish army^^. Try Song of myself, also at Wacken. And, i am sure this will leave you speachless, the Gratest show on earth at Tampere. Due to Marco's voice give The phantom of the opera a try, the"old" singer Tarja will show her quality as well.
