Shatner mispronounces Kukulkan as Kukla Kan. There used to be a kid's show called Kukla Fran and Ollie which featured a puppet dragon. While not intentional, it resembles Kukalkan.
@luminiferous1960
18 күн бұрын
Interestingly, the dragon puppet was named Ollie (full name Oliver J. Dragon) and Kukla was the bearded man puppet. It would have been cool if the names had been reversed and Kukla had some connection to Kukulkan. Burt Tillstrom created the puppet in 1936 while working for the Works Progress Administration Chicago Parks Theater, but the puppet was originally nameless until Russian ballerina Tamara Toumanova referred to it as kukla after Tillstrom brought the puppet to her dressing room as a parting gift. Kukla is the Russian word for doll. The word kukla is also used in Greek, Bulgarian, Albanian, and Turkish to mean "doll" or "puppet."

Thank you for reacting to the animated series! I'm impressed that you managed to cover the whole thing in less than a month with time to spare. And thank you for including your favorite episodes list! I look forward to your proposed retrospective on the original series, and I'd make one request: please consider adding your personal "wish list" - things you wish you could have seen in the original series, but that they never did. It would be fascinating to know your opinion. 🖖🤨 Warp 36 (in the warp scale in the original series) would be 46,656 times the speed of light, or one light year every 11 minutes, 16.39 seconds - fast enough to cross all Federation space in 62 days, 15 hours, five minutes and 11.1 seconds. ( A Vulcan told me that). If people are born as old adults and die in infancy then I hope they appreciate their mothers in that negative universe. I wonder if the 75-year mandatory retirement age is specific to humans, as Vulcans can live over 200 years. Or maybe it was a concession to the humans so that Starfleet wouldn't eventually end up "top-heavy" with Vulcans who had served for over a century and eventually reached the rank of admiral? "How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth" is the only episode of any TV show featuring the original cast to win an Emmy award. I look forward to your reaction to Star Trek: The Motion Picture!

By that time I was totally into science fiction while there were plenty a books that were almost no sci-fi TV shows. I am so looking forward to your retrospective of the Star Trek universe so far. "Albatross" takes advantage of what one can do in animation. Demos is voiced by one of the Flimation execs (I forget which one, but his voice acting isn't the best). "Serpent's" was written by a Native American, and he admits it was a tribute to "Who Mourns for Adonais." Unfortunately, too many TAS episodes come off as rehashes or revisits of TOS episodes, and this one REALLY does. Trivia: the power cat (and Sarah April's flower) both make reference to Capella (the system that is the setting for "Friday's Child." (Oochee-woochie-coochie-coo). "Counter-Clock" is the first mention of Robert April, one of the names Gene Roddenberry considered using for the captain in Star Trek TOS. Still not among my favorites because the whole reverse universe thing just doesn't work as shown. When Alan Dean Foster novelized it for his _Star Trek Logs_ series, he explained it as a delusion that happened within his framing story. Trivia: Beta Niobe went nova in "All Our Yesterdays (with Mr. Atoz)," and Minara went nova in "The Empath" (with the mute lady Gem). One question I must ask of all reactors to TAS: Do you consider it canon? Believe it or not, that is still a controversial subject, even today,

Excellent reaction well done. I’m glad you enjoyed it and appreciated it. Glad somebody does see. It’s real Star Trek of any original series animated because there are things you could do with animation you can do it in real practical effect at least not then you could now but not then yeah I agree. He also had the first native American on the crew, walking bear start Star Trek trying all people from earth represented working together in peace. The best Federation flagship and I agree on your Volcan idea there should be at least one in every ship. Can’t wait to see you. Enjoy the movies too. Thanks for the fun by the way you know there’s so many episodes of the original series only the animated series, Emmy award, and Peabody awardgeneration Emmy award was full episode yesterday on Spock returns to Volcan to save himself as a child that the only one to win an award for Star Trek until Star Trek next generation tell me when was a big surprise to Paramount with the handmaid series on TV was to stop all the letter writing campaign and phone calls flooded the studio about cancellation because Paramount didn’t appreciate the Animated series until they won the Emmy award most people didn’t but I do until next time

Albatross along with Ambergris Element(not among you favs, Courtney?Just a temporary oversight I'm sure)have some of the most impressive background design of the entire animated series. Dramia is VERY well designed and when we see Dramia 2 the architecture is similar but in ruins. Beautiful. Technically an 'Aurora' is something that happens in the upper atmosphere and can only be seen from Earth's surface..they do not occur in 'space'. Again...no D.C. Fontana in the season season. Still a great episode. At the end end as Kirk takes out his communicator he should have taken a dramatic pause..looked around...then called for beam up😊.

Can't wait for you to dig into the TOS movies, and then Star Trek: The Next Generation. 🙂 btw we have a statue of Quetzalcóatl here in San Jose, California, aka "Silicon Valley". It was very controversial even when it first came out...I was in high school! But it's a coiled up snake...a lot of people say it looks like....a turd. I don't really see it, but I think it's funny they say that. But it cost 500,000 USD to make, back then in 1992. We can't put links in comments anymore but you should Google it! 🙂

In 'counterclock' if I was Carla's husband I'd be in the waiting room with the cigars. Now I witnessed my son's birth. Can you imagine what giving birth in the 'reverse universe' would be like?!?!? I think for the pain Carla would need to be doped up with something way more stronger then an epidural. Think the 'birth' scene in 'EXTRO'(1983). Its cute Baby Kirk seems to also need a 'hair piece'.

I call the episode 'kinda woke' Walking Bear was never seen before and was not in the next and final episode and seems to be there so he can do exposition about the alien they 'randomly' encounter. If your reacting to the motion picture, I won't be watching it. Nothing personal but i refuse to watch because of a certain actor who plays a main character is in it and that film was my favourite star trek movie. But that guy ruined it so i cant watch it anymore. I'll start watching when you get to wrath of khan.
