I believe this will win this year's Eurovision through the Jury votes! I'd be totally fine with that. It's only song that gave me goosebumps thus far. 😍🌸 The meaning is transcultural as you tried to say! "Ramonda" is actually a flower that is endemic to Serbia and stands for the victims but also the hope and victory in the First World War. :)

After her song "Dzanum" which went viral all over the world thanks to Tiktok, now we have a sequel in the form of Ramonda. The title of Teya's song "Ramonda" references a flower known by its latin name "Ramonda serbica", an endemic species that only grows in Serbia and around it (some parts of N.Macedonia and northern Greece), discovered by Serbian scientiist in 1884, a flower which is known for its ability to completely dry out and still revive once it gets water, a flower that can straight up come back from undead. Very similar to Ramonda Serbica is Natalie's Ramonda, flower of the same genus, In Serbia it's known as "Natalijina ramonda" named after the XIX century Serbian queen Natalija Obrenović and it's used as a symbol of victory in WWI. In Serbia, to mark this day we wear a phoenix flower - Natalie's Ramonda, capable of resurrection, just as Serbia after WWI, in which it lost almost 1/3 of people. In fact, the song can also talk about loneliness and the ability to have everything in its place one day. Just like Ramonda flower only needs a drop of water to come alive. In the official video clip of the song, there is also a quote from the Gospel according to John: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." The island in the video symbolizes Greece, Corfu. That's where the Serbian soldiers retreated in WW1 in a seemingly hopeless situation, being chased to be finished off by Axis forces (like Austria Hungary and flanked by Bulgaria, who wanted a piece of the spoils). Greece took the Serbians in, gave them food, shelter, water... Many died upon arrival and had to be ''buried'' in the sea surrounding Corfu, since there wasn't space left. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful message and ode to one's ancestors who faced near impossible odds. There is even a museum in Corfu with lots of memorabilia from that period.

Ramonda became a symbol of resilience and survival during the Albanian Golgotha, when Serbian military units had to retreat across the Albanian mountains in winter conditions. The plant was found along those difficult routes, symbolizing hope and perseverance in challenging times. Therefore, for many people in Serbia, ramonda represents a symbol of courage and resilience during difficult times in the country's history.

Here are the lyrics in English. Hopefully, I managed to make the lyrics rhyme but to stay faithfull to the original. RAMONDA 🌸 " There's no, there's no peace for me Restless, sleepless with no dreams Night forbids the dawn to come Hardest for the lonesome Underwater, silent and bound I scream but i can't make a sound Above the hills there is a light But there's no end in sight Only wounded can walk this path There's no guide to take me far Into brightnes of the Morning star World in flames Flowers burned away Where've they gone from us? Lilac Ramondas Lilac Ramonda x8 There's no guide to take on me The stars are gone, they fell asleep Even prayers wouldn't console me Where've they gone from us? Lilac Radmondas Lilac Ramonda x8 From the ashes rising high... Just one Lilac Ramonda. " 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 All the best from Serbia and thanks for your support for our Teya Dora. 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸

There are several verses in the lyrics that refer to the famous exodus of the Serbian people (along with the king and the army) who traveled on foot over the Montenegrin and Albanian mountains to Greece in the harsh winter of 1915. traveled and buried at sea off the coast of a Greek island in what is known as the "Blue Tomb" or "water grave". The line "over there, under the water, everything is dead silent" refers to this. Moreover, the second line says "there is no one left to lead me towards the morning star". Zvezda Danica/morning star is a basic symbol in Serbian mythology and symbolizes the return home. The song shows complete despair and uncertainty as to whether our people will survive or return. Then you have "The world is burning, every flower is dying, where have the purple ramondas disappeared" = where have all the Serbs disappeared? The song ends with "One purple ramonda rises from the ashes" which symbolizes hope and just as the ramonda flower resurrects, so does the Serbian people. The lyrics are written in a way where there are clear references to historical events, while at the same time leaving room for a more personal and individual interpretation about inner hope, healing and finding the light at the end of the tunnel when everything seems hopeless.

As a Serbian let me translate you song more correctly: Ramonda is a lilac flower known as a phoenix flower that rises from "dead" with little drops of water. It grows in rular areas. Delicate but also strong. It grows in Serbia and some parts of Greece. Serbian queen Natalia used to wear it. We have Ramonda Serbica and Natalie's Ramonda. It became a symbol of end of WWI when Serbia managed to recover after only 1/3 people left. It also has personal meaning. Lyrics translation (not google translation): "I don't have peace,I can't sleep Nights are never-ending Unlucky is the one who is alone Silence like being underwater I'm screaming but no one can hear Behind mountains there's never-ending snow's glow This is the road for the wounded There's no one to guide me To the shining Venus World is burning, every petal of the flower Where have they dissappeared? Lilac Ramonda Lilac Ramonda (on repeat) There's no one to guide me All stars have fallen asleep Prayers are not helping Where have they dissappeared? Lilac Ramonda Lilac Ramonda (on repeat) Rising from the ashes One Lilac Ramonda
