After Vander is taken by Silco in Episode#3, Vi goes back to the kids and decides to go save him. The boys say they are coming along because "He's our father too". I don't think they'd say "too" if they were his actual children. "too" seems to mean they are in the same father/child situation that Vi is.

The main take-away from this first episode is how brutaly defendant Riot is about the League IP. There is a reason there only was League of Legends for so long. They did check with holywood first for the series, but nothing sounded good.. So hey, Fortiche, we worked with them a bounch already right? They are great! Lets build the studio up from a 5 man team to a 300 man team so they can do it and we direct it? OK LETS GO. "sorry guys, you need to rework the script, this first ep aint nailing it 100%, do it again!" Also, since you guys are not that involved.. Riot have money.. Lots of money, lots.

I've wondered if the head honchos at RIOT thought that this would be a good advert for League, and would attract more players. I kind of doubt this it has, long term players anyway. Instead, they got a masterpiece which stands on its own. I'm hoping the income from the show is enough to keep them funding it. As much as its a passion project, and a serious feather in their cap, the bottom line for a business is almost always the money.

@@Hohum37 Well I think the executives at Riot were well aware that it could be a good advert, just that it could also just as much be a bad advert if the show would turn out bad. Which they had every reason to believe looking at previous game adaptations. But the thing is, Riot needs to pivot away from LoL the game and they know it. Because League is dying and I dont say that in a petty doomy way. It is a decade old competetive game and by nature of that it is incredibly well figured out. A bit like chess if you will just even more complex. So if you want to get into League today you have a month long journey of learning ahead of you to even get decent at it. So yes League has a consistent loyal playerbase but those players get older and there is just fewer and fewer new players coming in no matter how much you update the game and put funny colorful stuff in it. Thats exactly why after running a single game for 10 years seemingly out of nothing they started branching out into other games. Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift, Valorant and soon to be Project L and maybe the League MMO. At some point LoL might be a rather small part of the franchise compared to their other stuff. And Arcane fits right in that trajectory.
@HPblu3
2 жыл бұрын
@@skipp3252 Um, I have to say that League is not dying at all. The game as well as the esports scene is literally growing every year, they have 120M+ active players every month right now, there's no other PC game with that many active players apart from like Minecraft although it's multiplatform. League still is and will be one of the biggest games in the world, just because other people get old doesn't mean younger ones don't take their place. League is a heavily stylized game with sort of cartoony graphics so it's timeless unless they just fuck up the game from a gameplay perspective, it will never die since there's also no other competition for them in the MOBA genre nor will there ever be hence why no one is even making a MOBA game anymore, nobody is going to switch from League, this market is basically dead for any other developer. The 2nd most popular MOBA on PC is DOTA 2 which doesn't even have 10% of League's player numbers so you get the picture. Anyway, thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
@skipp3252
2 жыл бұрын
@@HPblu3 You are definetly right on that. I still predict that League is gonna go down in popularity a lot in the not so distant future. I might be wrong but here is why I think that. Basically League has about the worst new player experience imaginable in the industry. Its basically nicer to get into chess than League. The tutorial of the game looks and feels like it was made by a highschool student and once you get into PvP games you get bombarded by veteran players on smurf accounts and/or tons of toxicity. Now Riots promotion and marketing is doing absolut wonders for the game, so much so that despite the terrible entry League gained a lot of new players. But I am willing to bet most of them came not for the MOBA experience but for the Runeterra experience. Coming because of KDA or Arcane or any of the other amazing content riot puts out. And that is why I think most of these players would pivot away from League once there is a more suitable alternative for it within the same universe. But yeah I could be very much wrong about this, time will tell. I personally love the game so I wouldnt mind to see it persist as one of the biggest games. But if riot plans to keep it on the top in the future I really hope they will put some developement effort into the new-player-experience because my god it is aweful right now.

Harley Quinn and Jinx. I think they admit in various places that, for the game, that Jinx was inspired by Harley Quinn. However, for any uses I've seen of Harley Quinn in various media, there typically isn't a real internal character motivation for her wild actions - it's written as - she's nuts, we can use that whenever we want in order to "explain" anything weird we want her to do. For Jinx, her descent into mental illness is carefully built, and her actions are all in line with it and her motivations. I find both characters enjoyable, but for entirely different reasons - movie usage of Harley Quinn is as part of a fairground ride with bright flashy effects, but little to no real writing involved. Powder-Jinx, on the other hand, is a heartbreaking descent from that "beautiful little soul" into a monster - that you want to hug better. I think perhaps that's why I'm not so aghast at the Multiverse of Madness as Sillychaos - I don't watch Marvel movies expecting them to be Citizen Kane -I didn't find it wildly better or worse than most of the previous Marvel works - although there are highs and lows. On the other hand, I've watched a LOT of great TV and movies over the years, and I haven't been as strongly affected by anything in a long, long time as I have been by Arcane. Every time I pick at it, I find something else to be delighted by.

When I watched this I was struck by the visual similarity between the Mylo and Vander artworks too. However, I think it may be more to do with the similar colour palettes they used more than a real familial similarity. Also, when Vi gets back after Vander has been taken, Mylo talks about Vander by name "Slow down, those are Vander's", I feel a son by birth is more likely to say "dad's" but it's not certain, obviously. Then "He's our father too" - which would also be a little odd to say - but again, hardly definitive, there is plenty of ambyoogyooiyooity. I think you slightly misread the scene where Vi is having Powder look through a pipe "telescope" - I don't think she's saying that's where she first met/collected Mylo and Claggor, it was just some recollections of failures.

hahah dude sincerely thanks for the chuckle. Your "there is plenty of ambyoogyooiyooity" was well worked into your previous point that it completely took me off guard while reading. Also I went back to watch the scene and I think you are right. I interpreted the dialogue of Vi saying "he (Claggor) was out all night before we found him" almost as like, that's how Vander ended up taking him in. Thanks for pointing that out it changed the way I viewed that moment :D! Also isn't it neat how Vi doesn't even need to look through the scope to point Powder to the correct spot. It shows the audience just how much she must go up there.

jinx's minigun, Pow-Pow (😥) is a big jump, but they DID save Fishbones for the finale, and seeing her use her ultimate was super cool, but didnt take away from how just incredible the scene was. That's what i really appreciate about this show, and how they handle references. every reference to the game is super earned, in a way that marvel hasn't been able to do for years. Another example is the bridge fight with jinx and ekko- this entire scene is just one massive reference to league of legends but is one of the most emotional, jaw dropping moments of the entire show, regardless of how much u know about the game. and aside from these massive scenes, so many of the references just add to the world-building, feel like a natural inclusion, and are so not-in-your-face that they could completely go over your head on a first watch. such as.... Singed had a daughter once... hmmmmm also didn't even notice who Singed was until I saw him with the scarf on (i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure his name is never even spoken in dialogue, though I know if you watch with subs it says singed). like ye he looks like singed but so does every skinny bald guy lmao also vander iykyk

An interesting note on the conversation around 30 minutes about Jinx and the minigun: she never seems to use it unless she's having a psychological moment. She fought the firelights with her pistol until one of them sent her into a ptsd spiral. She immediately reaches for it when she sees Cait and Vi together, or when she's breaking down in the last episode. I honestly think it is the weapon that tries to emphasize her chaotic moments. She uses the pistol (mostly) when she's calmer.

I get the feeling that a lot of people outside of League of Legends, when they talk about the toxicity in the game, they dont realize that there is a mute button :D Like everything you hear is true, if you are a new player I would not be able to guarantee you arent told to kill yourself within the first minute of online gameplay. But its not like we who play League are all masochists, we just make use of the mute button and have fun in the game xD
@AppleBaron
2 жыл бұрын
Toxicity in League is greatly exaggerated, because League is so popular. I played a lot of different competitive online games and the level of toxicity in all if them is roughly the same. All it takes is one toxic person in your team for the whole environment to become toxic. That's why people notice 1 toxic guy and ignore 4 chill guys.
@skipp3252
2 жыл бұрын
I agree, we got the same experience overall. But at the same time League is uniquely subsceptible for toxicity to arrise. Because players have the abbility to directly ruin the experience for other players. More so than in pretty much any other game. That draws out a lot of toxicity from players if they fall victim to it even if they would usually be chill and on the other side it opens the possibility for toxic players to explore their toxicity in even more direct ways. And additionally to that every time something bad happens in the game a player is presented with a grey screen and literally no other options than to use the chat. So even though the community is not inherintly more toxic than anywhere else it still creates a uniquely toxic environment to be around.

You can absolutely get into the lore without even touching the community, that's why Riot made the league universe web page, I recommend starting with the Runeterra interactive map, from there explore the world, check out different stories and biographies, comics made with marvel people, novels, etc! Also the card game has a lot more of lore than league itself and less toxic community interactions I'm not sure which interview it was but I remember them saying that Piltover/Zaun or Jinx/Vi arc would end in season 2, so for season 3 we would move to another story/region, or maybe they just start another show, which I doubt cause the name of the show is Arcane, and it would make sense make the Arcane the focus of the show on different storylines and regions. Also, in 2020 Riot hired people for live action both tv shows and movies, you can check that info, so a cinematic universe may be already on the planning. PS: Riot content is safe to react to, even the music, so you don't have to mute them or cut it. Obviously arcane was different because of Netflix, but this was uploaded to Riot KZitem channel so it is pretty much safe, I've seen a few full reactions and they haven't had any issues. Even for the music videos like get jinxed, you could react to it without problem. There are a few songs like warriors from imagine dragons and Zedd ignite, that the artists hold the rights instead of riot, so be careful if you watch those, the enemy music video is a special case I think, people have reactions to that video, but the opening version of the show do gets copyright strikes

@@SillyChaos thats okay, originally inwas going to edit my comment whenever i was at a Part in the video where i felt I had somewhat useful input. Im just gonna rewrite the first thing because I do believe thats of interest to you. Its to what you said in the 5:37 segment about the lore. You said you were interested in learning more about the world of runeterra and the universe of league of legends but hesitant or aftaid to enter that toxic Environment. Which confused me a little bit. But not because the playerbase isnt toxic or whatever. Because I play the game since 2013 and have tens of thousands of hours of playtime and never learned a whole lot of lore through the game. The amounts you get from playing is so negligible that youre not missing out on a lot if you dont play. And if you feel like you are, then you can find every voiceline of every character towards every other character on youtube or the lol wiki. The game doesnt involve lore in any way. Its genre doesnt really fit lore based gaming. But that means that youre in great luck. Because the creative minds at Riot gameshave set Up two websites where you can find EVERYTHING your heart desires about specific character lore or just a broad Overview of the regions that exist or the factions that inhabit them. The website for more text based stuff is universe.leagueoflegends.com/ and on it you can find a link to the Map of runeterra as well which is map.leagueoflegends.com/ . The map is good for a little bit of visualisatuon and when you click on specific regions or cities you can see what characters reside there of have their origin there and a huge amount of concept Art and Artwork in general that you would not want to miss out on. Tldr. : No need to play the game for lore. Lore is actually BETTER accessible on those websites. And if you feel like learning about different regions and characters, a couple of comics exist already and a book (Novel) will follow i think next month. So you will never need to get in contact with the very toxic playerbase. Just wait for the MMO if you feel like playing as them or with them some day :D

Like my friend said, he recommends I wait because there is the chance for spoilers in a way. But I am pretty darn curious. And thanks for taking the time to retype that :)! So thoughtful!

@@SillyChaos the eastereggs in the show were a bit more subtle and for example the sounds vi and jayces attacks make at the end of the show are the same as in the game, or in the first scene where we get Walked through the undercity to the soundtrack of bea miller we see one little rock like creature in a cage. thats an enemy in the game. But they really did not overdo it with game references at all. And i must say i prefer it that way. As to if you should read up on more lore or not, i wouldnt want to make that descision for you. But what you could do, if xou just want to know more about the world in general, is look at some regions on the map that are not part of the show and see if some character looks appealing and read their lore, and the characters lore that intertwine with them. The world and the amount of existing lore is so huge that until those distand regions get a show themselves is far in the future i think. And reading up on zaun, piltover and noxus (the faction the madarda family is from) would spoil some things perhaps, and maybe set one or two wrong expectations since the show is not 1 to 1 with the characters' individual Lore anyway. But on the other hand it could make you understand more of where its going, and who they possibly become in the future. (Viktor is reallly interesting imo). Maybe noxus could be fun to read up on since they might play a part in arcane season 2 but so far, no playable noxus character has been mentioned. The madarda family is something unique to the show. But that means that learning about noxus might just increase your understanding for their coming and past Actions better without spoiling Mels or her mothers story arc.

I know this is a reaction and your reaction is supposed to be the main part of this video but I also understand why people hate the constant pausing. It's annoying when you cut the video in the middle of them talking and insert your thoughts without listening to the whole context of the topic yet. It's like when you're talking to people and you don't even let them finish what they want to say. I don't mind pausing just listen to the whole sentence first gather your thoughts and pour them at the end. Just please try not to do commentary in the middle of the sentence of whatever your watching.

Okay I’ll keep that in mind for next time. It’s just slightly confusing cuz I’ve also heard the opposite, that it’s entertaining, so I don’t know which one is on average more preferable :’) 🙃 like you said it is a reaction, so I kinda would have to force myself to not be as genuine. But I’ll give it a try on my next video that’s like this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

And sorry a secondary note cuz this was upsetting to hear and I wanna make my content better obviously, is that I feel like it would kinda go against my nature of being silly and chaotic lol. It’s how I like to be. I just think way too fast and have silly funny little things that I wanna add in a lot. I’m sorry that you don’t enjoy it, but it would feel like I’d be trying to change the nature of who I am. And I also edited out the parts where I am not talking, simply because I am not adding anything and I feel bad for just taking their content. So I only like to keep in the sections where I am. Hopefully that’s understandable. Ill try to average it out next time around.

@@SillyChaos yeah this really shows how chaotic you really are. Lol. I'm sorry if I offended you, that was not the purpose of my comment. You have interesting things to say and I appreciate that. I am not trying to change what you are I just hoped you let a sentence finished before adding your commentary. Pausing in the middle would just add too much chaos and makes the listeners forget what part of the video you're actually trying to react. I watched through the whole vid if that makes it any better. Again I'm sorry if I offended you.

No you're all good! Everything you said makes complete sense and I went back to re-watch my video and I see exactly what you mean. I apologize if I came across as butt hurt, it's probably because I was. Over the past few days I got a few quite harsh comments, so I'm still just trying to get a hang on not letting that stuff get to me. (But yours definitely was not at all.) Your critique was helpful :D! And my next video will probably be better for it! Once again thanks for your input and I hope you have a great day :D!

This more like a discussion, I'm sorry but I'm here for the "Reacting" I can't watch this because of the pause every single frame and talks like about 5 mins before going to the next frame then pause again. 👎
