The HU is a Mongolian folk metal band that has become visible a few years ago outside of Mongolia. They have made a couple of videos of their songs featuring other artists. But only this one - from my perspective - has become better than their originals. Other great songs / videos are: Wolf Totem kzitem.info/news/bejne/y4Nuynd9gp9nrJg Yuve Yuve Yu kzitem.info/news/bejne/12quwImoaXR2mXo This is Mongol kzitem.info/news/bejne/lY9ozX9qp2Vmm6w The Great Chinggis Khaan kzitem.info/news/bejne/0XpnzXiJmqFimHY Sad but true (Metallica cover) kzitem.info/news/bejne/sqaup5OQsXmJkoI For the following three videos I suggest this sequence as they tell a story. Sad but True is so ironic. Love it! They also did the sound track for a Star Wars video game about the fall if the Jedi. 💛💛💛

It's interesting... as a man, I _also_ find this song to be empowering. It shows a culture in which masculinity can be valued, can be okay, so long as it also respects femininity.

The Hu is a folk-rock band from Mongolia, they use several indigenous music instruments and show us their traditional throat singing. In their culture, women play a so fundamental roll (as in every human group but not properly recognized and protected) they pay them high respect. This song was created by The Hu (pronounced as in who, but is a short word for the ancient culture of the Hunes) to honor their women in their Mothers day. It is included in their first album, The Gereg, it is highly recomended. But they asked Lzzy to colaborate and write the lyrics in English, originally is only in Mongol. And the result in amazing as you experienced. So, check the rest of the album, specially The Wolf Totem, Yuve Yuve Yu and The Great Chinggis Khaan, their videos are like short movies. Your reaction was wonderfully positive.

Thank you! I love these guys and try to introduce EVERYBODY to them! Dimash plays a dombra and these guys play morin khuurs. But as Kazakhstan and Mongolia are so close, it's probably just names. These guys sing exclusively about Mongolian lore, history, people legends and even poetry. They've gotten the UNESCO Artist For Peace award, the only band to do so. They care deeply about their country and who can't love that? Great reaction!

I think the Dombra is strung with metal strings? At least, mine are, but I don't know if they're "authentic". The Morin Khuurs are strung (and bowed) with horse hair, of course, from the tails...

Nice Reaction! The Hu are a band from Mongolia and had already recorded this song and had met Lzzy (a music festival?) and decided they wanted Lzzy to put English lyrics to it, so their management company contacted hers and they met and she agreed to do it. When she finished it they loved it so they recorded it and made the video. Lzzy really laid down some powerful lyrics.

First of all, The HU is moving quickly up my list of favorite bands. There is just something about their music that pulls you in. I have been listening to them a bit on my own and I am more and more impressed. I liked the addition of a woman's voice, expressing a woman's power. I'm new to rock/metal, but one thing that has been impressing me is how well it melds with other genres. Somehow, it's something I didn't expect, but, it works.

I watched another reactor that said she would love to see DIANA ANKUDINOVA collab with the HU BAND. I believe the instruments are different as the Mongolian’s call them MORIN KHUR and the originally used horse hair as strings. Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 I believe it’s with a “Q” because I watch many travel blogs from both countries and their instrument looks smaller to me and is called I believe DOMBRA. They are neighbors though and they definitely speak very different sounding languages and both speak RUSSIAN as well. Please react to more of the HU BAND ..”Mother Nature” is Amazing. 🙋🏻♀️❤️🔥🇺🇸 Diana originally came from EASTERN RUSSIA and when I first watched her over five years ago…there were comments that stated her natural father was from AZERBAIJAN 🇦🇿. I usually don’t mention it because her RUSSIAN mother tried to kill her when she was 3 years old.

I consider this song has some of the most female empowering lyrics I had the pleasure to listen to (the Mongol culture has always been aware of women importance and it shows)

Have seen the video with Lindsey Stirling and Lzzy Hale "Shatter me"? The official music video really really wonderful, the visual is awesome. It's worth watching and reacting to even if it has to be filtered, it's worth it. Most people have seen it so know what they will be seeing. Lzzy was great in that one also.

Thank you for your reaction. The Hu is a great band. I see you liked their original sound. So check out other masters who can combine tradition with modernity - Wagakki Band. This is a Japanese group with an unusual sound. They combine a lot of genres in their music, so you don't have to wonder how to classify them. Their music is magic. I recommend the song "Eclipse" from Japan Tour 2020 TOKYO SINGING or "Sasameyuki" from Dai Shinnenkai 2022 Nippon Budokan -Yasoukenbunroku. I will just add that the original MV's are beautiful, but they can be blocked. Check them out live. They are the best at concerts.

Even Mongolian throat singers know what a woman is. There is at least one Supreme Court Justice who was unable to express its pronouns in the confirmation hearing who needs to hear this song to better define its personhood.
