He’s just showing off his 5 octave range for ya. Hahaha. I love how he’s in the basement, then sings up in the attic, then when he talks he’s back in the basement. I’m not sure what range he’s most comfortable with since he can do so many. I would think mid-range? But I don’t know. 🥰

Funny thing with Tim, I think it all comes naturally and easily for him. He says he was a late bloomer so spent a few years singing tenor. Then his voice got deeper but he kept singing tenor so I would say his most comfortable range would be his baritone range. It would be the one he probably thinks the less about. As for Tim's hair, I do miss the longer hair but I am really liking his shorter hair with the gray streak. He has said it is much easier to deal with! Lol

I loved the long hair and now that he's wearing it a bit longer than in this video I really love the way it waves in front across the front of his forehead with those beautiful streaks. He has been getting the streaks for a long time and keeping them dyed. During the pandemic he didn't want regular exposure to a hairdresser so he cut it close and let it grow natural. Some of the fans freaked but most understood it's his hair and his job maintaining it. Plus Tim is a very authentic person who likes to present himself as he is. Lately you will often see him in glasses. He's so funny. He thinks he's old. He'll be 42 on July 19. All are around 40ish. Austin is youngest at 37. My sweet husband and soul mate died 1-16-22 after horrid cancer battle. I was devastated. Had run across Home Free a couple of months before he died. He liked them too. First several months after he passed I thought the grief would crush me. Only thing that gave me moments of calm and could even made me smile and then laugh was these five marvelous men. I have developed a ridiculous crush on Tim Foust. He's a sweet and comforting distraction. Sorry comment is so long.

@justkaron My condolences on losing your sweet husband. *hugs* We are together in that club that no one should ever have to be in. I lost mine unexpectedly Jan 22, 2015. I honestly didn't think I would make it, I was so devastated and lost. Then I discovered KZitem and Home Free. I don't know what it is about these guys, but their music (and personalities, I think) have a healing effect! I went through their whole catalog one by one & the rest is history! Then the lockdowns happened! Although I was already a shut-in for the most part, having HF to help us through that time was such a blessing! HF definitely love their fans and treat us like friends more than just fans, but I doubt they'll ever truly understand how much they mean to some of us. 💞

This is all Tim, all acapella, singing all of the parts, so he's basically doing what Home Free does, but he's doing all the parts without music. I think Tim's comfortable range is right in the middle there, which is more like his speaking voice, which is probably best shown in the cover the HF guys did of Randy Travis' Forever and Ever Amen, where Tim sang the lead throughout.

The hair...loved it long but I must say that he has matured very nicely!! During the pandemic he had to stop going to the salon to dye the gray streak which he has had for years, we just didn't know it. Once it grew out he figured that he would never have a better chance to make the change so he let it grow out and cut it ....his manager was not happy. We love him long hair, short haired, it makes no difference. He is still the same sweet, sarcastic joker that he has always been!

Another great rendition by Tim Foust. Love his new cd with all the older doo-wop songs. His voice really suits this genre of music. We know he can really bring the bass but how about his falsetto? He has a 5 octave range. Tim is doing all the background vocals & harmonizing. I have always loved these 2 songs from 1960 "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by The Shirelles & "Stay" by Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs.

I'm still here, watching every reaction. In regards to Tim's comfortable range; generally speaking a singer's comfortable range is right around their speaking voice. And you've heard Tim speaking, so that would likely be his "comfortable" range (quite low/deep). But he obviously has the skills to wander off that path.
@georgefisher1995

Listening to his normal speaking voice, the bass vibration is there , while a bass/baritone seems to be his comfort zone. He will, from time to time, take a tenor range backup to Austin when Austin is singing in a lower range. (Pretty “D…” good getting high enough to get into Austin’s wheelhouse). Unlike some other bass singers, he keeps a (pleasing to the ear) “singing voice”, not just being able to hit a low growl with no texture. The sound of it being natural is the difference. and then he reaches the highs with all the same qualities. (This Man is an Alien!).

Tim was asked in an interview if he ever had to train to get the low bass that he has abs how it all started (I'm paraphrasing). He said that he was a tenor until his voice changed and the low bass just came naturally to him. Obviously he's perfected it over time but he never had to train to get lower like most basses do. He did have to practice his high tenor range and that has taken some work. But it has also advertently helped with his low range, he said. Hope that helps.

He’s said all he has to do to warm up for bass, is a bit of talking. Then he does the really high stuff. And works down into the middle range. (This is either from the chat with Peter Barber or with Elizabeth Zharoff) Doo-Wop is not my fav. But I like “In My Room”. I’m looking forward to Volume 2. I’m expecting either pure country or southern gospel. Glad you did this one after “Mayday”.

Tim's a natural bass so the lower notes are going to be easier for him, but He said he used to be a tenor in choir in high school before the bass dropped (He was a late bloomer) and he wanted to keep that tenor register too so he kept stretching himself to do it and now he can sing in about any register and teaches others how to stretch and push the vocals.

of course the comfort zone for his vocals is right in the middle. He has to exert to get that high, or that low and those extremes don't come natural you have to put in a lot of work to do that. Your vocals have to be warmed up, and he has said he has to do the low notes near the end of the tracks after he has been singing a while and his voice is warmed up and ready to go. So his normal range is right there in the middle, his speaking voice range. In order to hit that range he needs to be grounded right in the middle.

I can match Tim note for note with this song. Honestly it’s much easier to hit the low notes gets a little harder when your down to a F or G but the highs are very hard we spend our time stretching the vocal boards to get deep then trying to slam them back together to sing the highs. I can sing along with Tim Foust and Geoff Castellucci deepest notes for hours and feel great after, I sing this song 6 times and the muscles on the underside of my jaw are sore. But I’ll keep singing any way
