I'm glad to see someone interested in Poland as a country, it's tradition, culture and, above all, history. I'm from Poland and I'm proud of where I live. Poland has a long, wonderful but also tragic history. I would like to highly recommend the song "Dni, których nie znamy" by Marek Grechuta. I think every Pole knows this song. You must listen about the Battle of Vienna, also called the Relief of Vienna, in which King Jan III Sobieski defeated the Turks, and the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, in which the Poles defeated the Bolsheviks. These are some of the most important battles in European history. The Battle of Grunwald was also a very important battle, in which our ancestors defeated the Teutonic Order. I really enjoy watching you, I hope you will visit Poland someday and you will see the beauty of this country in real life.

Such a story of him - I can tell. Just read about it, You ll not regret. Great life of an extrordinary artist, during the socialism (its ending). And a sad, sad end of Czesław himself.

Thanks thanks thanks. The best of Niemen is Cztery ściany świata, absolutely unique work. There is also a video version from the Sopot festival 1974. And Com uczynił, exceptional composition, and in English Inside Im Dying with the Nahavishnu Orchestra and the brilliant jazz violinist Michał Urbaniak. I was lucky to know Niemen since 1968 y., and privately he was also an exceptional person: very kind and warm to others. He listened to his interlocutors and did not show his superiority. In music a genius, with an endless variety of musical forms

Of course he is remembered. He is our national treasure. One of his songs "Sen o Warszawie" became an anthem of Legia Warszawa FC Club.

Do you know that In 1964 at Congress Hall, Warsaw, Niemen, together with his group, played as a support act to Marlene Dietrich during her concert. She heard his song "Czy mnie jeszcze pamiętasz" ("Do you still remember me?") there. She enjoyed it so much that she soon wrote her own lyrics for the song and recorded "Mutter, Hast du Mir Vergeben" ("Mother, have you forgiven me?") (Wiki). She wanted that after her death, all medley of her songs be ended with this particular one.

Music transcends languages and boarders man. Obviously back then the lyrics had even more weight. This song made people cry and stood up for the greater good nationwide. The feeling across the whole country was immense.

Fun fact. Czeslaw Niemen had a unique voice. And the music was heavily modeled on James Brown's song, "It's A Man's World," which came out a year earlier. Even an amateur can pick it out by ear.
