the gay panic is real though...when moon went up like she was gonna touch solar's face I thought this might become a very "goodbye by wheein" video. I'm no shipper either but it feels like moonsun is just having fun seeing how much they can get away with most of the time lmao

Moonsun has performed as a unit before. They covered Like Yesterday both on Sugarman back in 2015 and at Solar's Gamsung Concert. The Sugarman performance final section with Moonbyul singing the melody and Solar going off with adlibs is a favorite. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sHyB03aJkXWlapg

I can't remember if it's official units, but there was that whole Angel vs. Dab Dab thing with Wheesun and Hwabyul. I have to say that the one I'm still waiting for is Wheebyul, the R&B goodness that could come out of that is just something I may or may not be dreaming of from time to time.

yup, those two are the only two official subunits and it's sad those are the only songs we ever got from them, much as i love both also, wheebyul could likely be absolutely dangerous (look at the very brief bit of "moderato" we got from them) or dance focused (like the medley of their songs they did at that one fan meeting where hwasun did the sailor moon theme)

This is actually not the first time 2 members release something as a unit, there's also "Dab dab" by Moonbyul and Hwasa and Angel by Solar and Wheein The original song is actually a ballad but they completely rearranged it into a summer bop, that's why the lyrics are sad

As a new KPop listener coming from a metal background who got into this genre really from an audio (Spotify) perspective for all the pop ear candy goodness in this genre, I really appreciate your musical details breakdown of everything you cover on your videos. There's so much musical detail in these songs and it seems like few people discussing them ever pay attention (, at least enough to discuss it). So from a fellow music nerd to another, I salute you!

Hey speaking of Moonbyul, I wonder if you listened to her collab with Punch on the remake of "Say Yes" they released last year. If you did a video reacting that would be fantastic, but really I'd just be satisfied knowing what you thought of that version of the song. 😀

Moonbyul's one line about "leaning on the moonlight" reminds me of her song Eclipse and whether it's a vague nod to it or not, I absolutely love it. This whole song is so powerful and they look phenomenal. Absolutely agree that it sounds so catchy and summery yet the lyrics are so sad. I forgot how much I miss Moonbyul's rap tone and Solar's vocals are *chef's kiss* impeccable.

oh man, i feel you on the subunit thing... been craving that for years. every vocal pairing possible. we've gotten various bits of them all over the years, but really only three official ones (though one's technically not an actual subunit) others have mentioned angel line with "angel" and rapper line with "dab dab". those are the only two official subunits in mamamoo, sadly. and only the one song from each. the two songs were released at the same time as a competition between the teams with a punishment for the duo that did worse on the charts (they had to eat really spicy pork... which would only really affect solar and moonbyul as those two aren't the biggest fans of spicy stuff). both songs have mvs that are literally just them being performed live at a concert we also got an official song from wheesa, "loving one person", though i hate that song as much as i love it. i love it because wheesa... their vocals are so amazing. but i hate it for the story, both the story of the song and the story of how the song came about (it was written specifically for them by an outside composer after he heard about their long-term friendship... so of course he opted to write a song about how they fell in love with the same man and decided to stop being friends instead of give the man up. bleh) i mentioned a few other things in reply to another comment, but lemak/hwasun did a cover of the sailor moon theme at one fan meeting, while chwisa line/wheebul did a medley of some of their solo songs with a bit of dancing. moonsun also performed the song "like yesterday" on the show 'sugarman', wheebyul did a very brief bit of wheein's "moderato" at another fansign (at a fan's request), and there are more like this over the years, just short clips of them mostly goofing around, but not much really serious or professionally produced
You should check out Moonsun other duet " Like Yesterday" just as great.

I see others have mentioned the Angel Line and Rapper Line subunit songs and some of the live duets. There's also Wheesa's Loving One Person. Solar & Hwasa did a live duet a long time ago that I think was a vlive around xmas - haven't watched it in a long time. Wheebyul is the only duo I can't recall ever seeing other than fooling around in a dressing room. I'm not into shipping either. I'll believe in Moonsun as a couple when they do a duet of Ain't No Mountain High Enough at their wedding. I did stop to wonder whether something is going on between DPR Live & Hwasa during Hula Hoops because first he raps about Hwasa and then Beenzino raps about his gf and the song was released on Hwasa's birthday. If nothing is going on between them then they're playing with us cuz a relationship is implied by the parallel raps and it seems like Beenzino gave his gf some Tiffany and Live gave Hwasa a song. I'm sure he gave her a more personal birthday gift too. It's none of my business but good for them if it's true.

I mean without you even realized it, you yourself are kinda shipping them two together (Hwasa - DPR Live), am I wrong? I’ve seen you commented in other videos as well about your “interpretation” and you got so excited there about the idea of those two together. And here I thought you’re not into shipping, guess I’m wrong then hahaha lol 😂. Don’t get me wrong, imo shipping is fine tho as long as you know where the line is (and also being respectful to the artist and keep it to yourself). There’s no need to be ashamed to admit that you loved the idea of shipping as well. I mean it’s just an absolutely human normal behavior, we just love having the thought of shipping two individuals together whether it’s kpop idols or even actors/actresses in movies as well and that’s totally normal because we see them having such good chemistry together. What I hate the most is the “extremist” shippers, they just keep constantly asking nonstop in every single chance they’ve got (in vlive, IG, their YT channel, etc) and sometimes even crossed that freakin boundaries to the point where it makes the artist feel very uncomfortable.

@@dehuntr9908 I understand but personally I don't want to know any more about their personal lives than they choose to tell us. I admitted to shipping them because the hints they dropped were too obvious to ignore. It's also fine if the hints were red herrings designed to mess with us because they know kpop fans will take any clue and write a romance novel out of it. 🤣

@@kudgeond755 LOL couldn’t agree more with your last statement, that’s a fact right there. Kpop idols dropped crumbs here and there, even if it’s only just little tiniest bit of crumbs then kpop fans took that to their heart and wrote a freakin long essay about their ship. Hahaha. 😂

@@dehuntr9908 Many kpop songs and superfacial images of kpop idols are just like the first 7 episodes of a tyical 16-episodes melo Kdrama, making big deals of those youthful (a.k.a immature) foreplays while behaves very convervative underneath. The main couple in the drama only gets to have their first kiss at 8th episode like a standard formula. Sleeping together usually happens with a stable pre-marriage relationship in the end and makes it like a big deal and a lot of ending scenes are marriage. Not to say most of the idols are forbidded to date according to their contracts with agencies while singing love songs over and over again. I find it quite absurd because shippings fake or ambiguous relationships are possibly good for business and acceptable by agencies and fans while real relationships are usually in secrets and suffered criticisms a lot when surfaced. I think this is why throughing crumbs here and there are a common things among kpop fandam.

Lol yeah same. Me personally, I really don't mind and doesn't bother me at all if there's no subtitle like immediately. I could just come back again later when the subs are ready. Music is universal, I mean if you guys are a music lover in general and listen to all kinds of different genres/music, then there's no such thing as language barrier (at least in my perspective). I do get it tho where people are coming from when they're demanding immediate subs as soon as it released, but it's just not for me tho. I can still enjoy the song and vibe with it even if there's no subs at all. Don't get me wrong tho, of course if there's subtitle it makes it even way better to understand the whole song and the meaning behind it but I mean, it's not like every time you want to listen to something (let's say for example while you're driving, etc) like "Oh hold on for a sec, I need to open the translation first before I listen to this (x) particular song" right?? LOL hahaha.😂😂

Agreed. I understand wanting subs but the ones I get annoyed at are the ones demanding subs right away, knowing full well that the subs will probably come in 1-4 days. Like, if you follow the pattern and you notice that the company is putting English subs within 2-3 days consistently, then you can wait, lol. Sometimes they'll say, "I can't remember to come back and check" but if you're a fan of a group, you'll come back and check lol.

I've got a bunch of more or less random comments: - The song feels almost like a dialogue between the two (didn't read the captions during first listen). - It sounds like something one would listen to during painting or other art stuff. - I love the look of the MV. - I watched a fan-made video of Mamamoo covering each others' solos today and I think it would be a fun/different (profitable) idea to have them release a special album thingy where they actually cover each others' stuff and maybe have unit songs, too. They wouldn't have that much work with production and I don't think Moomoos would be mad because it would probably be awesome, anyway. - The gay panic moment was very unexpected.

Well, you're in luck! Wheesun already has a unit! It's called Angel Line, as their song was called Angel (they still to this day call each other 'my angel' sometimes). Hwabyul's unit is called Rapper Line (or Rap line) and their song was called Dab Dab!
