3:58 watch Perrin's nose carefully in that section. He flares his nostrils for a moment, then inhales heavily, then you see more visions. I think Elyas will eventually explain to Perrin that he is smelling these things and the visions are his "mind's eye" translating what he smells.

Not really sure if Moiraine is shielded or stilled. But I believe she's just shielded, judging by the weave. When Logain was shielded in S1E4, there was an intricate net of weave that surrounded and settled in to him. The same intricate net of weave was put on Moiraine when she was cut off. The only difference is, with Moiraine, it happened instantaneously.
@sivzzz3008

@@ryazanalester6136 I mean that's still not much to go on since if you remember in the books, in the fight between two important channelers i wont name for spoiler reasons, severing and shielding weaves were very similar. They are both pure spirit, and the only difference between them is how sharp is their edge. Also I've seen people say that since Moiraine can still feel the source, she is only shielded, but thats not the case in the books. It is said in the first or second book that severing still allows a channeler to feel the source.

I think Liandrin got her son in a very dark way, but her motherly instict is still there. Liandrin didn't say she hated men. When Ny commented it on s1, Liandrin just said "My Red sisters perhaps." But she then said men "are rarely kind to little girls who show spark of being greater than they are." I think Liandrin has been abused as a girl, and it might have continued until she discovered she could channel. I think she got her son in her very early teens

I also thought that the dream sequence had a reference to the brands. We know from some pictures that the hilt of Rand’s sword this season seems to have a heron on the hilt, where did not have one last season. In the dream, we see him staring at his hands, and then reaching grab the hilt of the sword and I was wondering if that was not also a reference to getting his hands branded.

Mat stabbing Rand could be taken easily in a couple ways (book spoilers below, for other commenters): - Mat stabs Rand's reflection in the broken mirror scene. - Mat is overtaken by the dagger's corruption and actually does stab Rand, instead of Fain. It's not Mat's fault, it's the dagger's. And I agree with you on the Lan/Moiraine thing: she's trying to push him away because she knows the path she's on is stupidly dangerous.

Perrin's sense of smell getting sharper! Good call! Nobody else was complaining! Notice that right after Moiraine tells Lan "We were never equals" she calls him by his full name - his full *royal* name. No, they were never equals - he's a king. Realizing that made me feel a lot better. Did anyone else get a beat of excitement when they saw the Seanchan struggling with their end of the rope and think "Grolm!" - and then immediately say "O no! Loial!" My one big gripe about how they're presenting things here, is the Damane. They feel *way* too much "I am in control", rather than them being the tools that the Sul'Dam use to maintain that control. It just.. yeah. The 'head up, eyes direct, confident and intimidating posture' feels way too dominant for them to me. But, I'll be curious to see if that changes as we get further into the season, maybe they're being portrayed that way *now* because that's how our PoV characters are seeing them, and once we get to know it more they'll start showing the Sul'Dam/Damane dynamic more like in the books.

I love your reaction to this. I'm also a bit confused about how they are portraying Perrin's powers. I assume they are trying to say that a wolf is sending him this vision of what it saw happening, but that's not made clear and it seems an odd thing. Were wolves really sitting around watching all of this stuff happen? Including the flies scene in the house? I do understand that the way the wolf speak is portrayed in the books would be very difficult to put on screen, but this seems like an odd way to do it. I also love Elayne's portrayal. They've perfectly captures her, in my opinion. I didn't catch the "pillow friends" thing on first watch. 😆 I do like all the little call backs from the books, although I'm not exactly sold on whatever's going on with Moiraine. I know that she didn't do much in Book 2 and so they needed a compelling storyline for her, but this seems an odd choice. Also I love the look on your face every time Selene show up on screen. 😆

So eh I'm ok with it. I hate that they combined Vandene and Adeleas but then made Verin the other sister. I'm ok with combining character but it really makes Verin much different then she was until mid story. A lot of these characterizations are like mid story characters, not early story characters. Verin in the books was bookish, and oblivious until suddenly she wasn't and this Verin is more like just what Vandene was all along. I don't know.

Although Cadsuane was a breath of fresh air in the books, that was because RJ was purposely writing the majority of Aes Sedai to be pretentious, weak willed, and less competent than previously thought. In terms of her actual necessity to the plot, she was superfluous. In the show, I don't think there is a need for Cadsuane anymore, since it seems that the Aes Sedai are going to stay competent and genuine. At least that's the case with Moiraine, Alanna, Verin and Liandrin who are getting the most memorable scenes.

I thought the casting of Elayne Trakand was brilliant. For a moment I thought we'd see Gawyn and Galad in the training yard, but that will come later I guess. And I thought the use of American accents for the Seanchan was amazing. Compared to the book where they refer to it as a drawl, it had to stand out compared to the standard Broadcast English accents of the show. Excellent choice which makes them seem sinister.
