The original host of Jeopardy was Art Fleming, and the announcer was the great Don Pardo. His voice is so recognizable! At least, to a lot of us Gen Xers and older, lol! Alex Trebek took over Jeopardy in 1984, which wasn't too long before this video came out, and shot Al into the stratosphere. How's that for some useless trivia? Lolol!

Art Fleming was a regular announcer himself on old radio programs in the 40's and 50's before doing Jeopardy and he hosted When Radio Was on hundreds of radio stations for many years.

@@velvetplatz1024 Ol' Bob actually got his start on this old show called Truth or Consequences. He wasn't even the original host of that, either! That actually started out on the radio, hosted by Ralph Edwards. I'm not old enough to remember the radio show(bet my mom does, lol!) but I do remember Bob doing TOC in the early 70s, when I was a little kid. Next thing I know, he's on the Price is Right. He did that show forEVER! I think he's still alive, and in his 90s, I believe.

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Greg Kihn worked at a local record store while I was in college. It's always been a bit weird to me to see him in music videos like this. Always seemed like a nice guy. By the way, Kihn's song was just called "Jeopardy".

The camera guys are members of his band and Dr Demento, and that end shot was from the original song, Our Love's in Jeopardy. This song is one of the reasons Jeopardy came back. Vintage 1984. Please, do One More Minute.

If you watch carefully, All of Weird Al's early videos have Dr. Demento in them in some form as an easter egg. In this one, he was the camera man with the big beard. In the Eat It video you watched recently, he was in the picture on the wall in the bedroom. See if you can find him while you do your react videos!

When Al filmed the video for this, Merv Griffith came to the set to congratulate him on the song. Al was one of the first people he told that Jeopardy was coming back on the air after it's original cancellation.

I know for sure that Al was invited on "The Merv Griffin Show" to perform this song shortly before the Trebek version debuted. After the performance, Merv commented "I've known Art Fleming a long time, and I've never seen him stick out his tongue like that."

The version of “Jeopardy!” hosted by Alex Trebek that we know today actually began the same year this video first aired (1984). Art Fleming hosted the show...I believe until the late 1970s.

Today, the second & third place finishers gets either a grand (3rd place) or two grand (2nd place). Plus a prize. Back in Art Fleming hosting days, these were called parting gifts for the second & third place finishers. Plus every contestant got the home version "board" game of Jeopardy. There was no home computer or internet back in those days.

Yes, common consolation prizes on all the game shows in the 70s & early 80s were the home version board game, turtle wax & of Rice a Roni the San Francisco treat! Takes me back to being a kid & loving those rare days of being home sick and hanging out on the sofa watching the game shows.

And Greg Kihn himself making an appearance at the end driving the car. This a parody of the Greg Kihn Band's "Jeopardy" which goes "Our love's in jeopardy, baby ..." Sometimes the original artists even contribute. Weird Al said Michael Jackson loved the song "Fat" and even let Al used the "Bad" set to shoot the video.

This song was released in 1984. At that time Jeopardy had not been on the air for nearly ten years. Jeopardy came back in 1985 with Alex Trebek.

Al actually DID appear on a celebrity Jeopardy once, but he did lose, fulfilling his prophecy. It frustrates me that I can't find any information about it online, but of course, every time I try to search with key words, this song always comes up.

Al did this live on the Merv Griffin Show (the producer of both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!) while Jeopardy! was cancelled. When Merv was interviewing Al after the performance, it was announced that Jeopardy! was coming back on the air.

The guy in the grey beard is Dr. Demento, the man you can credit for getting Weird Al on the radio. His syndicated show was the only place that people with novelty records could get play time. Look him up. It is worth it.

My Mom watches Jeopardy every day, but recently I was into it when James Holzauer was on blowing people out of the water everyday... he was a professional sports gambler and would risk his whole bank on daily doubles and averaged winning $70,000 most days and ended up winning over 2 million in less than a month ... not too shabby , and it was great watching him run the board... he’s done, so I’m over watching it now..😜

Oh, The Saga Begins (covering American Pie trough the story of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace) is a masterpiece - even if you don't know anything about Star Wars (if you do it is a killer).

Weird Al enter college at 16, he's super smart, I was a teen when this video came out in the 1980s, I wished and hoped he would make a parody of the Price is right but he never did.

Al graduated high school a year early and was class valedictorian. I watched Jeopardy when Art Fleming was the host. This my favorite Weird Al parody. I wish you would watch the entire video and then go back and comment as I like your observations. Stopping and starting really busts up the flow of the tunes.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but those were Al's parents who were watching him lose on TV. Can't remember who the little girl was who threw his picture in the trash, but I don't believe she was related to the Yankovics. It doesn't have a proper video, but you should check out "The Hamilton Polka." It's a polka medley of many songs from the Hamilton musical.

Another FYI - the guys with the glasses and beard is Dr Demento, who had, and I think may still have, a radio show where Weird Al first got his music played. He and Demento have been friends ever since, and he has appeared in several of Al's videos, either in person, or, as in Eat It, as a picture over Al's bed.
