The single most badass moment in television history. I would have followed Dani through the gates of hell if she had been my queen. Then a group of unbelievably lazy show-writers absolutely ruined the greatest heroine in TV history. Shame. Watching Dani's fall in the last season of terrible writing is exactly like watching Luke Skywalker, the greatest hero in movie history, be turned into a hermit hiding himself away. The most disgusting wastes of personal arcs in the history of art and literature.
@briansexton
2 жыл бұрын
*[ WARNING: Final season spoilers ahead! ]* Nah, what happened with Daenerys was neither lazy writing nor sudden, although it might seem so in the moment. She kept telling us about her brutal, violent, despotic nature in both words and deeds for literally YEARS in both the TV series and the books. Again and again and again and again. Her story wasn't merely that of a displaced heir to an empire; it was largely about an influential person's struggles to formulate and pursue noble ideals despite conflicts between those ideals and her ambitions and darker impulses. The signs were nearly as numerous as the mile markers on the road to Meereen and they started before Daenerys herself was even born. "I am no maester to quote history at you, Your Grace. Swords have been my life, not books. But every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness. Your father was not the first. King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." - Ser Barristan Selmy to Dany in "A Storm of Swords" Daenerys might sometimes say things like "I am only a young girl and know little of the ways of war", but that false modesty was merely shrewd manipulation. Even then she was traveling a path that could lead to her becoming a Mad Queen-a true Targaryen in the worst sense.
@CorsetGrace

@@briansexton I agree with your assessment to a point but believe Dani had transcended her family's fault. I think she was the perfect tossed coin but the writer's chose action and drama over character and plot. @@briansexton - Well said. Aerys II (The Mad king) wanted to burn his whole kingdom to the ground, and all those within it, before Jaime Lannister ended him. Viserys, Daenerys' brother, was pretty much evil and insane from the start, so it was easy to hate him, especially because of the way he treated Daenarys. She was the innocent one. The one who wanted to do the right thing by those who followed her. But at each turning point along her arc, she chose violence and death, even when the audience would argue it was justified. It made us all root for her even more. But once begun down that path, it became the only solution she could see. In the end, she finished what the mad king started, burning King's Landing to the ground and killing all 500,000 of its inhabitants. Why? Because it was the only thing she knew anymore, and she had crossed over into the madness that befell so many of her people before her (inbreeding will do that). Arguably, had Jon Snow stayed by her side, he might have balanced her a bit...but then again, maybe not. The Lannisters deserved everything they got and more, but the people of Kings Landing were innocent and didn't deserve to die. Daenarys didn't care. She killed them all. In the end, Jon made the only choice he could. The world barely survived the insane tyranny of the Lannisters. It would NOT survive Daenarys, her dragons, the unsullied, and the Dothraki. I think the writing was definitely lacking, but because it was rushed to fit within 6 episodes, not because of where the story was going. It was only ever going to go one of 2 ways, and the way it ended was definitely one of the plausible avenues. Personally, I would have liked to see Daenarys cauterize the Lannisters from the world, then take her seat on the Iron Throne with Drogon and Jon at her side...and everyone lived happily ever after. But Game of Thrones was never that kind of show.

12:50 I really loved watching Eric and Calvin on Blind Wave (the name of their KZitem channel they have with two other guys) watching the whole show from the beginning together. Eric had already seen the whole show and was caught up and was waiting on the new season so he rewatched it with Calvin. It was fun to watch Eric giving the camera certain looks right before major scenes and Calvin had no clue what was coming. Obviously the best episode they did was watching the red wedding episode. Calvin was super happy and excited too during the episode and had no clue what was about to happen. If anyone reads this and haven’t heard of their channel before, I highly recommend it! I usually don’t watch a lot of reaction channels but I love watching theirs. They have the best reactions and they aren’t faking it either with the jumping up and down yelling every single time something cool happens. They react to A LOT of shows and also react to films. I really liked watching their reaction to Get Out. The best kind of reaction videos are whenever someone is watching a film or show with a big twist or shocking moment and they really had no idea it was coming either. You can typically tell whenever someone is pretending to not have any idea about what happens, especially if they try too hard to fake it and even pretend as if they don’t know who the very famous actors are either. 😂

@@barenkd316 well u are .just own it .i showed u how there wasnt any good foreshadowing or writing at all .breaking bad''s whole point was about a normal man going crazy but even they couldnt make him full evil after 5 seasons .why ? cuz they just cant naturally .if thats foreshadowing then sansa can be a mad one cuz she was always selfish and wanted to be a queen feed a man to dog in cold blood and even enjoyed it .jon snow is a child killer before dany .

I'm sad you didn't include the part when she throws the whip in her arms to the ground and tells Unsullied they can leave if they wish to.

These reactions are so dope because besides her walking out the fire with the baby dragons right at this moment we all fell in luv with her and thought she was a hero !? Til we realized she was a ruthless conquer that would stop at nothing to secure that throne 😢

What isn't highlighted enough is how clever Dany was this entire campaign.😂 She planned to buy all the Unsullied by negotiation with her Dragon. But planned to kill the slavers. Her advisors did not even know she understood The language😂😂😂

Can you imagine being one of these GOT directors, producers, set people, actors or actresses and watching videos like this of so many people getting excited and emotional over your work and something you put time and passion into? That has to be a great feeling.

The first time i watched GOT was with my father (cause i thought its just all about thrones) and i regret it so much 😃 season 1 was full of-- 😃 it was too awkward. And then, I rewatched it again just recently this year and I finished up to the last season in a span of 3 days. Now, I'm too attached and couldn't move on 😃

Eu amei esta parte, principalmente qdo ele diz dracarys e queima tudo. Dany era o melhor personagem.
