Video Recorded on August 13, 2022: So you notice I was silent the whole entire time I took this video (doubling as a moment of silence for the innocent lives lost from 21 years ago today, but that's not the main reason for this video nor is it because of the epic motor). I was really nervous as you know what while filming this in which I'll explain why soon. But anyways, the reason I've been mostly silent in this video is because I got busted here while attempting to film this the first time about 2-3 hours ago before I finally got a good video as one of my friends who's a member here was on the elevator with me.
Please Note: I was attending a party here and most of my friends here are members of a certain organization, so that's why I was here. Even though this elevator isn't that special anyways, I still filmed it because it's got a nice motor sound.
So anyways, I went in to see what kind of elevator it was and I got confronted by (I think) a front office receptionist just right when I headed towards this elevator. I told him the entire logistics of my hobby after he asked if I needed help or anything, but then he kind of got angry and asked why. I then explained to him with valid points and supporting evidence which includes much details as possible. I was also honest and polite to him as well. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to give much of a care after several valid points I was trying to get across while explaining to the person. I can't remember what he said next, but I think he angrily said that I can't be here or something like that, so I just basically left. I went back to where most of my friends are and told them about what happened, and thankfully enough, one of them happily helped me out here! We came back here again and finally filmed this with no issues, BUT...I was still increasingly nervous mainly because of what happened earlier ago, which was why I did not narrate much nor at all in this video. You can kind of hear my friend's voice mostly at the end of this video once I stopped recording.
That being said, this is just an overall example of what could possibly happen when it comes to elevator photography especially after 9/11, even though building staff members do have rights to set rules in their properties and ask you to leave if necessary. But taking certain things like an innocent hobby way too serious is another (even though prohibiting photography is indeed legal in private properties). No, I am here to rant or anything as I'm just only giving you my overall point of views and thoughts. But anyways, I've seen plenty of recent videos from other enthusiasts that got harassed for filming elevators which is a lot worse than this one I've had today, even though it wasn't the greatest experience. That's just a legitimate example of paranoia across America. And yes, this happened in Houston and Houston is a good example of a city where I've gotten busted countless times a lot more often (and a few harassments following that) before I even started KZitem. To be fairly honest, Houston is not a friendly city to film elevators in. College Station is countless times friendlier and much more laid back unlike Houston that is. But HUGE thanks to my friend for helping me out!!!
