Please never change your format!! I just found your channel and I truly appreciate that you get right into it. So thank you! Another reason I subscribed immediately is because you have a vast array of reading interests. I also have a tendency to appreciate the Russian authors. There’s just something about the writing. I love them. And based on your vast collection I can honestly say that I’ve added or top-tiered a lot of your favorites. Super chill, super straightforward, super real. And we both speak Fukbomb fluently. 😂. ✌🏼😊💙

Murata's happy (and very autobiographical) ending in "Convenience Store Woman" is the opposite of yours because of her own eccentric individual love for the job, but it is great that you understand her as you do 👍 Her next book "Earthlings" is the one that has left most Western readers baffled as she refused to play by the rules with it and composed a master work entirely bizarre and shocking

This was super entertaining🎉🎉….you might dig Boris Akunin books. That’s a pen name for maybe Russia’s most popular writer. He was just declared a “terrorist” by Putin’s regime bc he opposes the war. Fortunately he’s lived in London for years. Sort of the Sherlock Holmes of Russia but he’s a serious scholar of Russian history which he incorporates into his books.

Love Polidori, Le Fanu, Shirley Jackson, and, of course, Dorian Gray. It is not always the point of gotic to scare you. Sometimes, for example, I ask myself a question: Why should I be scared? And think about it. Must check Easton Ellis. Only read less than zero.

Dude you got hella more followers in a short time. Props. More kids should read. Less screens. - book recommendation: “The Gulag Archipelago” Book by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Details how Marxist philosophy evolves into tyranny with momentum. Doesn’t matter who’s in charge, what culture, or even time in history. Human nature. Incredibly relevant right now in 2024.
