PART OF MY CONVERSION STORY (March 4, 22): THE ROSARY AND MERACLES I HAD, etc: Thank GOD for our LADY OF GUADALUPE; when I visited her Shrine in Mexico in Dec. 2012. And I was suffering at the time of "Sleep Apenea" I was healed really while still there - FRARNKLY, my first intensions were to honor her. †Also, when I prayed a few Rosaries to help me to quit cigaretes on May 17, 1998, she answered my prayers immediately, though I was SUPER skeptical at that time. †Truely, when I was inspired to recite one single Rosary in December 12, 2000, I was healed from my unbelief (Jn. 14: 1) - and I tried at the time first to pray OUR FATHER, but I couldn't remember the prayer... And I used to attend few different Evangelical Churches for a few years in Stockholm searching for Truth, etc. †For now I have recently been diagnosed of "THYROID" DESEASE which made my life upside down. I'll continue praying & trusting really! †Since my conversion, I try NOT to miss attending Masses weekly or daily etc. And I pray the Devine Mercy Chaplet daily at 3:00pm. And I NEVER missed. †UNDOUBTLY, Reading & meditating on "Gospel of life" according to daily readings is like my "daily bread"! Also, I like to what some one says: that after every winter comes spring. But "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God"(Psalm14:1) Thank God for the ROSARY prayer, etc 🙏! ††By Saba Korial MIC, & I was born in Middle East, now Christian Catholic & Canadian. 2 Tm 2: 4 & 4: 7

I always like to hear Bishop Barron’s theological and philosophical ways to understand the faith, but this episode really shows the emotional connection and joy that can be found with God. This interview session ranged across so many emotions- talking about rage and anger, but also comfort and delight. It links to a line Bishop Barron said in a discussion with JBP recently- that God gets you in both directions- on the way up or on the way down to the depths of God foresakeness . Ultimately, in this episode Bishop Barron really shows that he is a bridegroom extolling passionately all of the virtues of his beloved. It is beautiful.

Great presentation, as always. On the subject of enemies and foes, as mentioned in the psalms, I would like to add another way to think of them. We are tested daily by temptation, self doubt, low mood or depression, selfishness, addiction and over indulgence, self-aggrandisement, hubris, immodesty, greed, etc. So many powerful things trying to sway us, lead us onto the wrong path, ruin our lives and distance us from God. When I pray the psalms of lament and the writer calls for his enemies to be struck down, I’m thinking of God taking down and killing these insidious, corrosive patterns of sinful thought and bad choices.

It is interesting, in this discussion of the heart, that in Hebrew the heart refers more to something like the mind, or the center of one’s being. When emotions are referred to, they’re usually associated with other parts of the body. For example, anger with the nose or nostrils, others with the belly.

The enemy in the Psalms is first and foremost US - the enemy within, our disordered will and concupiscence. In the TLM the Psalms are used to teach this and help us battle this enemy. The Novus Ordo does not use these same psalms. Psalms using the word enemy were mostly removed or buried in optional readings. This is why many misunderstand - the Novus Ordo does not form people properly.

Over the last several years I've read through all the Psalms several times; I read 10 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. In that time, I've come to a better appreciation of "who" God is. For instance, God loves us (Ps 6), is merciful (Ps 103), and God is righteous (Ps 111). Based on that, I recommend those reading the Bible should start with reading all the Psalms; understanding who God is puts in context the rest of Scripture. In addition, I've discovered numerous passages that could describe the life of Jesus. For example, Psalm 13:1: "How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my hear all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?" This easily describes Christ's Passion, specifically the Agony in the Garden and suffering on the Cross.

Psalm 63:1O GOD, thou art my Go; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, , my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. 2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life , my lips shall praise thee. 4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness ; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6When I remember thee upon my bed , and meditate on thee in the night watches. The night watches, those nights in prayer, bring forth a harvest. Prayer is what separates The Catholics power from the unredeemed world.
