Fabulous! Being able to read something written so long ago, and understand most of it.

Thank you! Yes, learning to read a bit made visiting Egypt such a rich experience - plus it was fun!

One of my passions it is the reconstruction of spoken Egyptian ; so i am very much annoyed by the approach of mainstream egyptologists who consider it to be not worth the trouble to reconstruct a plausible , vocalised pronunciation.

That’s really interesting! Would be cool to hear it properly spoken.

I ALWAYS wondered about that! I always thought that it would be cool to revive it, even if we are just using a reconstructed pronunciation.

@@letshuman8985 Yeah, unfortunately they didn't use vowels in their writing, so we really can only guess - plus the spoken language evolved a fair bit over the years, whereas the writing stayed a bit more "old school". But it would be fun to actually know what at least one era of the ancient spoken language sounded like!

@@daradventures That’s what I wonder about…the vowels. For instance, why are there vowels in “hieroglyph alphabets?”

Omg you see in the black pyramid how perfect the drawings are? Like seems like they used machines or something, I don’t think by hand they could do that so perfectly

There are a ton of videos on everything on KZitem 😊I can’t speak for others, but for me the fun was to learn, to challenge myself and to have a more enriching trip than I would have otherwise - if people are impressed or not, doesn’t matter much! Just like to share my experiences 😃

Hi! Do you know where I could get a copy of your notes on the pronunciation of the hieroglyphs, especially the ones at the very end of your video? Thanks!

Hi there! The notes I showed at the end were mostly just photocopies from the below book, with my own handwritten notations. I loved this book, it made learning so easy to follow - felt just like learning to read any other language: www.amazon.com/Egyptian-Hieroglyphs-Complete-Beginners-Manley/dp/0500290288/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3IM2KMKQN7GZM&keywords=egyptian+hieroglyphics+books&qid=1676520046&sprefix=egyptian+hier,aps,153&sr=8-3. Along with that book, I also used this video course as an additional resource - taught by a professor at Long Island University. The course gets much more complex than the book, you’ll learn full sentences and more grammar. It’s also great to be able to hear someone attempt to speak the language, to the best of our educated guesses as to what it may have sounded like: www.thegreatcourses.com/courses/decoding-the-secrets-of-egyptian-hieroglyphs

Hieroglyphs is plagiarism. The original writing's title is Medu Neter created by Black people.
