for as much as i appreciate the impact jaws left in terms of horror, it's a shame that so many people came away from the movie hating sharks and thinking they're a threat to humans when they aren't. sharks don't even attack humans unless they're a massive threat or if they accidentally mistake them for seals, otherwise they're really docile toward humans ! i think shark killings went up as a result of jaws. in any case, fantastic video ! loving these longer videos lately ^-^

Yes! So sad! It did in fact have an effect on people killing sharks and the author felt so badly about it that he has kind of made it his mission in life to try and help make people aware that he didn't write it with that intent and that sharks don't deserve to be killed over it.

Describing FITA as 'soul-stealing' is so accurate, and the irony is that it is a standard 12 year old girl read for kids who are into horror/ true crime. Literally we all read like 15 VC Andrews books in middle school.
@Topdoggie7
Жыл бұрын
It's even better when you realize that Andrews wrote it based off of her life being trapped and other experiences. And given that she was confined to a wheelchair it makes you really wonder what all happened to her. Because she wrote a lot more stories that all have similar things for example the one where the child is forced to be her brother after her brother dies. It makes me wonder if there was some really messed up stuff happening to VC.

Ring is a trilogy. In book two, the virus is investigated in more depth and the intersexuality becomes relevant. In book three, everything is completely turned on its head. Absolutely huge plot twist at the start. These books are sci fi not horror, and you can only enjoy them if you're not expecting horror.

The FITA sequels (the original series anyway…we don’t talk about the ones entirely produced by her ghostwriter postmortem) just get more and more messed up as the series goes on. There are also *a lot* of retcons from book to book, although a lot of them are due to characters having different amounts of info about the family and their history. The one prequel worth acknowledging, Garden of Shadows, is especially messed up, because it delves into the family dynamics from the young grandma’s perspective.

Okay, Jaws. I. Definitely preferred the movie to the book. The Deep, another of Benchley’s works that was turned into a movie, in my opinion was a better book. I have never watched Flowers in the Attic but I did think the first book was based on a true story and the rest were fictionalised. I could be wrong about that. The Ring Trilogy (Ring, Spiral and Loop) took a very different turn from what the movies suggested. I did end up finishing the trilogy for the sake of finishing it and deemed them to be neither fantastic nor absolute trash. Again, I would have to say I prefer the movies.

I enjoyed Flowers in the Attic for pretty much the reasons you said you didn't. Not sure what that says about me, as I enjoy books that create negative feelings in me but hey ho. Earlier this year I read the prequel which is about the grandmother. It was an interesting read as it showed she was never really a good person, but how her experiences shaped her into someone worse. I would say that yes, there is some sort of resolution with the mum in a later book, but the books tend to follow the same theme of being heart breaking.

there is a sequel to the flowers in the attic called petals of the wind, That may help the ending! v.c. andrews books are all like this they are considered thriller fiction for young adult. She only wrote like the first 2 or 3 books and then she passed away and the rest of her books under her name are ghost written. In this series there is only 2 books! You would be fine just reading the sequel there is only 2.
