Sorry but it is not logical to argue that antisemitism is not hatred of jews but a hatred of the state and associating jews with the state and then talk about it as racism. I understand that the trope of jewish undue influence on government is an aspect of antisemitism but its not the be all and end all.

What an absolutely phenomenal interview - you were both so great and I learned so much. I found the whole framing of being Jewish, both through you and Arendt resonates with my own experience as a Jew. Moreover, the nuance of your non-polarizing conversation is similar to the way that work as an eco-artist. I explore Climate Change as change, rather than through the political lens of environmentalism. I also believe in hope and love, and in the future of younger generations who are demonstrating innovative ways to cope with Climate Change, as well as new possibilities for being with the natural world.

Our lives our finite, our understanding is ultimately finite, although together we can get closer to the truth. We know the concept of infinity even though we will never fully calculate infinite. Infinity is a true concept. Truth is by definition objective. This was all covered over 2k years ago by Plato--Arendt's philosophy is perfectly in line as described here.

Zionism: do only Jews NOT have a right to private property that they purchased from owners, the owners being Turks and Arabs? Most people, when they purchase land or a house, have the right to "occupy" the land or house that they purchased. Zionism: can Jews owning a private property in the area around Judea, the Judean Hills and Judean mountains, choose to live under a secular democratic form of Govt, with a Jewish ethical Foundation, and choose not to live under Sharia, since Islamic Law says that Muslims MUST subjugate and humiliate Jews, or else kill them if they resist. The answer to these questions explain why anti-Zionism is hatred of Jews, if the answer is that Jews do NOT possess any private property rights if Arabs or Muslims say that they don't, after collecting money for selling their land to Jewish families, and that Jews, unlike Hindus or Christians or anyone else, have NO LIBERAL RIGHT to reject being subjugated under 7th century Sharia, and the edicts of Islamic scholars.

The early point about moral and political truth is taken but the discussion is confused - truth is never out there or a feature of the world. Truth is an attribute of a statement. The world exhibits facts as states of affairs, many of which are conglomerate ideas in which direct states of affairs are filtered through a set of statements or theories. Truth is attributed by human cognition to our own utterances whether these relate to public or privately accessed states of affairs. Many states of affairs are not easily incommunicable and yet a person can still trust that a private truth is the correct one, an analogy for which might be when I say the music is in tune but a master of music says it is not, and I have failed to perceive within the publicly shared domain what specialised perception makes available to another person but not to me, viz., that the music is out of tune. How the music is appears as a state of affairs, statements about its being in tune or not possess the attribute of truth purely on their coherence with states of affairs. Best to keep these domains clear.

Truth is a projection of human consciousness. It is the result of apprehension and subsequent comprehension and finally description of events as objectively as possible given the limits of our senses and cognition with the intention of providing an uncolored account of what was observed. Scientific truth is seductive because it involves objective measurement and reproducibility of it findings. Most other truths depend on a consensus of observers who are motivated to accurately describe what the experienced with no coloration by emotion or prejudice. We must have some standard of truth in order to be able to accomplish anything.

"Truth is an attribute of a statement"? By what metric better than the reality of what happened? Yes, we can disagree about an event, but that doesn't change the event. Unfortunately, people will manipulate statements to alter perspectives of an event, but that still doesn't change what actually happened "out there as a feature of the world".

What's a "Femist" ?
@dennissilber287
5 күн бұрын
A feminist is a person who understands how traditional female roles affect women particularly with regard to their access to equal opportunities traditionally available to men and acts to oppose those cultural or social barriers based on gender or who acts to eliminate barriers to accessing services such as medical care. In addition a feminist acts to eliminate the barriers to equal opportunity that prevent women from exercising their free access to the same opportunities available to men. These actions include any legal means such as speaking, writing, organizing peaceful assemblies of likeminded individuals, aspiring to political offices, among others. Needless to say feminists are diverse in their beliefs and goals and are not a monolith.

Berkowitz makes a few intriguing statements - and a few intriguing omissions: "Blaming Jews and Israel for colonialism" is wrong. "Claiming Israel is White settler colonialism" is wrong. "Jews didn't do colonialism'. Also states: "Jews were the bankers". Summarises Arendt: "Racism is an ideology which has very little to do with Jews or Black people". "Prejudice isn't racism". Ignores anyone can have a prejudice against group x or y, which can be racial. So, I'm guessing White people (Ashks are between 50%-to-90%+ Caucasian; Sephards 50%-to-75%) did/do colonialism and racism, which seems quite historically localised, and restrictively historicist. He claims anti-semitism has little to do with Jews but does function through institutions. Seems to be claiming there is a mottling of whiteness (which is, of course, apparently not aimed negatively at white people, but we do have hiring preferences against them, so there does appear to be an overlap) and jewishness. So remove the confusions, and the institutions will be fine. Jews won't be blamed for 'whiteness' (So, I guess Noel Ignatiev wasn't 'woke' ?). Then all will be 'diverse'.Yet what of decisionism and the question of who/whom? Subtly entropic, but naive.
