It's also helpful to watch the drivers head as you approach their car to see if they're looking into their mirrors and thinking about changing lanes your way. This has saved me more than once from blind drivers who think they're the only ones on the road.

Pretty good vids. Traffic reading is even more involved than presented here. You can learn to recognize what people are going to do before they do it by learning the cues; the guy/girl weaving thru traffic is going to change lanes, the driver who really accelerates onto the freeway (I live SoCal USA) is going to cut you off, etc. Thanks for putting these vids out.

Great tip on anger management 'when you consider who gets home first!' together with a great quote: "being righteous from a wheelchair is no fun for anybody"

I was just going to say the same thing. I don't own my own motorcycle I use my friends. And I live in the US.. And this happens a lot. If you stray to one side or prefer to give big buffers idiots think it's ok to pass you. I've had it happen to me twice. I've got the self control to move over for the car. But I know people who wont... then you've got a problem. Don't give them a reason. they wont go for it.

My pet hate is drivers who tailgate, and what is worse, is that the cops don't do anything about them.

re: buffer in your own lane. Yeah you really shouldn't do this. If you move to the left, drivers behind you may think you're letting them pass! That means that they might accidentally hit you, or you them, because you didn't expect it. TERRIBLE ADVICE! Ride in the mirrors, take the proper lane position, and treat all the cages like they're out to get you!
