What's great is this quote reflects what's said in Musahi's own book "The Book of Five Rings". "The Gaze in Strategy" - "The gaze should be large and broad. This is the twofold gaze "Perception and Sight". Perception is strong and sight weak. In strategy it is important to see distant things as if they were close and close things as if they were distant. It is important in strategy to know the enemy's sword and not be distracted by insignificant movements of his sword. You must study this. The gaze is the same for single combat and for large-scale strategy. It is nescessary in strategy to be able to look to both sides without moving the eyeballs. You cannot master this ability quickly. Learn what is written here; use this gaze in everyday life and do not vary it whatever happens." -Chapter 2, The Water Book, The Book of Five Rings, Miyamoto Musashi

Everyone in their life has something they want to do, everyone has some sort of hobby or goal they want to achieve. And the only way to get that, is through suffering. Through getting up and trying again and learning from every experience. As a Catholic, I’d say the closest thing to my faith might be Buddhism, because we both recognize that suffering is an important part of how we as people become better. Weather by suffering alone or suffering together, by the process of coming out of that experience, you have the ability to become better or worse. It’s up to you to become better.

The best arc that lives in my mind is when Musashi came to a village and he learned how to plow the fields and he also becoming hope for the people thats the part when he realize that life is just not about killing and became totally a kind person

For me Matahachi Honiden's storyline was one of the most emotional parts the read. Despite being annoying, liar, coward and scum. I felt like man damn somehow i can really relate myself to this guy. And when he meets his mom, shi hited me like a truck

Vagabond is truly one of the greatest Mangas ever made It’s up there with Berzerk in my opinion. The way the art is able to captivate you even in simplest of actions like planting rice gives it so much depth. Vagabond holds endless fast of information one could implement in life and in character. It is much more than drawings on a book it’s a lesson a reminder of who we can choose to be.
